When I try to mash it in 1st the car acts like it doesnt want to go until it gets to like 3500 rpms. but it doesnt happen all the time. my question is would this be a fuel related problem? and I just got a new oem fpr.

He said the boost was going up. Meaning he is getting a reading from the intake manifold. It could be a bad cam or crank angle sensor. It has happened to me before. I changed it out and fixed the problem.

To the OP, did you do any kind of work to the intake part of the engine(ie, take off the intake manifold or piping)?

i am having this same problem right now, it almost feels like a fuel cut (i dont think thats it tho). My car will make 14psi then drop to 10 and it will continue to do so IF i have the pedal to the floor. Like the op said my car will continue building boost but wont really go anywhere! I will try a boost leak test and check the plugs and wires bacause i just got the car a week ago who knows how old thoes can be

is it possible to not have a cam angle sensor cause i think my car does not have one i know where they are located and i just have a flat piece of plastic there WTF

LOL, 1995 turbo motors have the cam and crank angle sensor on the same side. What that means is, the cam angle sensor is behind the intake cam gear. Ours are very different from the 97 and up. In fact, we get ours pretty cheap from satan.

It does sound like a boost leak. That can also cause your car to run rich. I ran into the same problem 2 weeks after buying my car. I replaced all the couplers and it ended up being the throttle body seals. It held boost almost to redline after that.

You guys don't seem to realize that he is getting boost pressure in the intake manifold. When one of my intercooler pipe couplers came loose, my car still rev'd all of the way up to redline but, my intake manifold would not see 1psi of boost.

early this spring i finished my motor install. and took the car for a spin.car ran good for the first pull then suddenly ran like shit. it got boost but not like it did originally. I could on;ly pull off about 8 to 11 pounds. I triple check everything before i finally slowly poured soap water over the entire intake stystem. turned out to be a blown intake manifold gasket the was supplied by Fel-pro in the engine gasket kit i purchased. the gasket was made of paper go figure. Bad leak still made boost.

edit* PS. since you turbo would be sucking in more air then is reaching the combustion chamber this would make you car run incredibly rich. wanna save some time. pull a plug check for black soot on the electrode.

This is very true. I checked my plugs out after stuff like this happened and they were fouled up.

Obviously check for boost leak then change your spark plugs since they are only like 5 bucks anyways. Make sure they are the right kind and gapped correctly. If you dont have leaks and your new plugs dont fix it come back and we'll get into more complicated and expensive fixes.

Im getting boost it just feels like im not goin any where till i get to a certain rpm. I have new plugs and wires all my couplers are good. and im not runnin rich after drivin i checked the plugs and there still good. and it only happens sometimes. when at wot at around 2 grand it just feels like im not goin anywhere but im makin boost.

What you fail to realize, is you can still build pressure with a boost leak. It might not be a huge leak, but enough that the system is dumping loads of fuel making you not make the power it should be.

So, have you done a boost leak test like requested.?

It sounds to me like your cars running fine... there is boost lag that makes ## car go slow untill it spools up (about 3 grand).... or maybe a slipping clutch..... BUT I WOULD do a boost leak test first
