boost gauge hose tap question

quick question here, so i kno i have to tap the boost gauge hose into the fuel pressure regular or the P hose area. but i noticed that they're sucking air in and not blowing out. is that right? i tried hooking it up to both but the guage doesnt budge at all, just stays still.

your car doesnt produce any boost at idle, only a vacuum- vacuum=sucking air. It will only blow air out when you have some boost.
