im still haveing boost creeping problems it started ever since i put a turbo back 3inch exhaust on my car and i cant get it to stop. I tried changeing my o2houseing to a more free flowing one to see if that would do anything but it still creeps i need help bad. Do you think i possibly need a bigger wastegate flapper in my big16gevo3 like a 38mm flapper would that solve my problem?

and i put a cat on to help the problem but didnt do anything either

First of all, with all the threads on boost creep you couldn't find one that would help you.
Some things you could do are o2 housing with wastegate dump tube, port o2 housing, port exhaust manifold, get a bigger flapper like you said, electronic boost controller, or get an external wastegate.

Pat, I just realized we have had this conversation already. ;) What happen? Porting isn't as hard as it seems you know. Anyway, putting a cat on in attempt to control boost creep is just not acceptable. :)

haha i know but i ported my 2g o2 houseing and it didnt help and now i still have problems do you think i should port my turbine houseing and get a bigger wastegate flapper

Porting the o2 housing isn't going to help. You need to open up the restriction that is in the exhaust housing of the turbo. You can enlarge the opening a bit before you have to switch to a 34mm flapper. You can also put that cabide bit to the inside of the housing and shape it so that more of the ehxaust gas is likely to flow through the wastegate than the turbo when it opens up. If after you do that porting you still have boost creep, then you should go to an external wastegate, but nine times out of ten, porting at the exhasut housing will work.

Like Quasimondo said, the key is in the turbine housing, specifically the turbine inlet. Without porting the turbine inlet and the flapper area, anything you do after like porting the o2 housing, o2 dump and even external wastegate mounted on o2 will most likely not work unless it was a minor case of creep to begin with. I also do not think a 34mm flapper is necessary if you do the porting properly. When you had the O2 off the car, you were only 4 bolts and a nut away from removing the turbine housing you lazy bum. :nono: In addition to porting the turbine housing, you will also need to port match the exhaust manifold and o2 housng to the port work done on the turbine housing, here is a thread that covers porting of all three pieces. Take your time and do it right, in fact I think you should post picture for approval :D before you call it done. As for your question in pm about whether a bad bcs will cause boost creep, the answer is "NO". A defective bcs will either bleed off too much air (all out boost) or not enough air (running 10psi), boost creep is a completely different animal, mostly exhaust related, mostly......

Its true, worked for me, everybody told me to go external or go electronic boost controller, but unless you have a deep pocket and a want for an additional noise maker under the hood when an internal wastegate will suffice just port it like i said in my tech article, holds rock solid at any boost level.

i recently bought a ported turbine housing comes with a 38mm flapper too havent installed it

Why not ask Chadillac2000 whether his EVO16g was already ported when he was having boost creep? Most vendor port jobs focuses on improving flow and spool, not on eliminating boost creep. 38mm will help but you have to look out for flapper being blown open at higher boost levels, sometimes associated with 38mm flappers. Why not consult with us before your next move?

Most vender ports suck and the 38mm wg is worthless unless as it will increase the chance of leaking at higher boost.

Make the inlet/ex-manny side of your hot side look like the pic below and you will not have any creep issues.

i put my ported turbine houseing on with the 38mm flapper and it cured the problem thanks for everyones input

Glad you got it working, could have done it though without paying for a new housing, 38mm and a vendor port job. Did you at least port matched manifold housing, O2 housing and gaskets to the new turbine housing? Later when you start to boost 20+ psi and it's dropping off at higher rpm, the 38mm flapper/actuator would be the first place you should look into. Congrates. :thumb:
