Ok so today my sideskirts and rear bumper lips came in from canada. i want to install them myself. ive seen people use some type of glue/structural adhesive that comes in a cauking tube..anyone know where i can get this glue. ive checked home depot and various auto stores.

im not looking for double sided tape although i know many people use it. I want to do more of a perminent proffesional job. I know how to install the skirts and lips but i just can seem to find the right glue

Your thinking of 3m panel bond. Cost around $30 a set. You should be able to rent the double gun from the place to buy the adhesive from. (Carquest, Napa, Autozone--may be special order, really and body shop should be able to sell you some)
The other option would be to buy some permatex of Devcon two part epoxy. Get the one that says will seal with steel to ...fiberglass, plastic, urethane, etc. Its about one fifth the cost, and holds just the same. Buy one for each side, press, mix, and apply.

If your planning on doing it yourself, just remember that you will need to remove the paint around the contact points, and scuff the adjoining surface. More contact area the better. It's best to use screws or rivets with these glues to keep a nice seal. If using rivets, use steel;aluminum will give after time, predrill and recess the heads. Or predrill, and use a suitable sheetmetal screw. When the glue has dried and cured remove the screw and fill the whole.

These are steps to permanently fastening the parts, usually followed by molding them.

check out chassis works web site ( I forget it right now, just do a search on google or something) they make lamborghini replicar chassis's and they sell that body panel adhesive in the caulk tube like you mentioned above. I'm not sure I think it might be www.chassisworks.com or maybe not. there in las vegas for sure I know that. Hope this helps.

3M tape is onder rated. That is what hold most of the moulding on your car now. With proper prep. you would not have any problem out of it at all. The panel bonding adehesive you are talking about if for attaching actual body panels to fiberglass car. live vettes. way over kill for what you are doing. Just my .02 (but I have worked in a body shop and we use the 3M tape for stuff like this all the time with no probs.)
