So i jumped timing bent one valve the machine shop wanted to charge me $200 to fix one valve guide so i said fcuk it.Went to pick and pull got a head $55,took it to the maching shop got it resurfaced, got an oem head gasket valve seals and lapped the valves.put her back together she starts with a misfire 2 dead cylinders 2&3.pull the plugs to check it out #3 is wet with water, did not use antifreeze in the rad,she smokes white out the exhaust, this shit pisses me off cant understand why the gasket acts like its blown. Not sure what to do,get another head and gasket or just a new gasket, that shit blows:ohdamn::ohdamn::ohdamn:

Only resurfaced and the machinist told me he gave it one light cut cause it was in pretty good shape

how did they resurface it?

What equipment did they use?
Your surface finish should look about like this...

What OE headgasket did you use? the composite? or MLS?

you need to pull the head and have it pressure tested.....

That stinks to hear. Sounds like it's cracked or the machine shop made it worse when they milled it. I'm assuming that it wasn't pressure tested? Always pressure check heads, especially junkyard heads. That's probably why the car was there!

You're close, when you get the head back off swing by and I'll take a look at it for you.

Just look you up had no idea you were right there,i think i will bring the head with one bad guide and get that one replaced,i got a set of ferrea manganese guides but the guy at the machine shop said i will need over sized replacements once he presses it out so he cant use what i baught.Figure if i get this head repaired i can just do a swap to minimize down time cause i really need to move the car from shop i just qiut from and started a job at a new shop, the boss or i should say x boss now is nice enough to let me keep it there in the mean time, appreciate the help and you will see me this week.By the way this is the gasket i used

Update, so i went back o the pick and pull and got another head, got it resurfaced and pressure tested according to the machinist it passed the pressure test.Re installed everything and guess what,SAME SHIT dumping antifreeze in
#3 cylinder now this got me puzzled.Brand new gasket this shit is killing me now i am thinking my other head was probably good and i have some other problem,Ideas guys?

Before you take it apart again you need to pressure check the coolant system. This will tell you where the system is leaking. If this head checked ok, then chances are that the block is cracked or the deck is badly warped. If the deck is warped that badly, it will also show up during a leakdown test. Same problem, different heads tells me the problem is in the bottom end.

Was thinking the same thing but it ran fine up to when the timing jumped, never overheated, but yeah i'll put some pressure on the cooling system and see what it does ,the thing is the car is not at the shop its at the house so leakdown test is not possible right now

Cool. You can rent the tool to test the coolant system at most of the big chain auto parts stores. Usually for free, too.

Lol i got the tools (auto tech by profession)its just that i towed the car to my house cause i start at a new shop this week so i figured i would keep it at my house.
