hey guys i have a 97 GS-T and just recently i started hearing a weird noise from my car.....when i boost anything below 8 psi....when the blow off valve goes off, it makes a fluttering noise but when i boost anything over 8 psi the blow off valve will go off normally...right now my car is being vented because the re-circulation hose ripped and i need to get a new one during the week....but the blow off valve would go off and make a normal noise for a while and just about a week ago it began to make this noise....i checked all the hoses from the blow off valve and they are all connected with no holes......i know that this sound is caused by air trying to go back into the turbo but i dont know how i can fix this.......can anyone help me out and tell me what could be wrong or what i could do to fix it?? thanks!!

i also forgot to mention that i have an HKS SSQV blow off valve

your hks blow off valve has a adjustable tension bolt on the back
its there so you have the option to tighten it for higher PSI set ups
all you have to do to fix it is adjust the bolt and loosen it
which will allow the lower pressure to excape

PS:
what i did with my greddy type-s
was loosened the bolt all the way
and slowly tightened it till it was just right

hope this helps

Well, if your only getting into the gas a little bit without full boost, your bov will not make the whole whistle thing it does at full boost because the valve isn't opening as much. Its completely normal, my Type-S only makes a fluttering sound unless i full boost it, thats when i get the whistle

After installing a FMIC...I noticed that my Greddy Type-S no longer blew-off under low boost or when revving in neutral and the BOV fluttered when I was at a low rpm and when I quickly let off the gas (fluttering was also more pronounced when the engine was cold than when warm).

I actually thought that my BOV went bad, so I bought and installed a new Greddy Type-RS...and NO CHANGE.

It doesn't matter how "soft" or loose that I set the BOV screw...it doesn't whistle unless I'm under high boost (more of a high pitched squeal actually). It also does NOT flutter or whistle when just revving in neutral....it only flutters when driving at low rpms when I let off the gas...

I've read all of the "fluttering BOV" threads...and they range from, "you have compressor surge"...to, "the BOV fluttering is normal". Does anyone have an opinion for my situation, with the specific details that I have provided? Thanks.

well actually the new HKS SSQV's have no adjustment on them....the older models did but they did away with that adjustment screw on the new models....just to clear that up....thanks for the help guys

Well the reason you don't blow off with the fmic is that you no longer can fill the intercooler with enough pressure when you rev in neutral, In my opinion it is impossible to adjust a bov perfectly because if you get rid of the flutter at low boost, you may end up leaking boost at full boost, You have just to find the happy medium between low boost flutter and make sure your bov holds boost at full boost.
