I bought a Blitz DATT DC III turbo timer with a 1g harness. I go to wire everything in and everything clips in fine. I grounded the two black wires as well as grounded the purple wire (i know, it is supposed to go to the ebrake, but i decided against it just for testing purposes). So I turn the car on, the timer turns on as the key goes to the on position. When I go to turn the car off, once the car is off the "ON" position the timer shuts off as well. If i keep the key between the "ON" and "ACC" without actually shutting the car off, the timer will count down, but then it just turns off when its done.

I want to say that the timer should turn on as soon as I am in "ACC" not "ON", but without chopping up the harness, I dont know for sure. Any suggestions?

its because you dont have the e-brake wire hooked up.. when you pull your e-brake it removes the ground form the circuit without that being grounded all the time it just turn's off when you remove the key from the igintion and shut the car down..

interesting. ill splice into the ground wire tomorrow to see how that works. i only did that because a buddy of mine who drives a mr2 has his just grounded and it worked fine. thanks for the advice, ill give it a try.

is it right that the turbo timer turns on only when i get to the "ON" position on the ignition and not at "ACC"

ok, i tried it. if i put the key in between the ON and ACC setting, then it will count down and shut the car off when it finishes. BUT i cannot just turn the key to the ACC or take it out, the whole system will shut off. any suggestions?

hahah i have this same exact problem on my 2g with my apexi tt. i bought the tt brand new in september and i still havent been able to fix it. if somebody replys with an answer will u please email me whats wrong?

i even went back to the shop i bought mine from and they want $85 an hour for diagnostic time, i told them im a mechanic and i diagnosed it and according to instructions everywhere i wired it correctly but they wont replace the tt unless they diagnose it.:talon:

im sorry your going threw the same pain i went threw, the only thing i did was checked for constant power in the 1g harness you bought, your gona need to buy a test light for $35 from sears. if you dont have constant power in the wire that you are sapose to the thats your problem, i ran a line from the fuse box under the dash from any fuse i had constant power. that fixed my problem with the tt working correctly. but my next problem was after i made my setting in the tt i would shut the car off and it worked correctly remember. but a few minutes later i would go back to my car and all my settings were reset to the factory settings on the tt. im sorry but i hope this is enough help for you. NOW if anyone can tell me whats wrong with my apexi tt that would be great.:talon:

the only problem i have is that i shelled out the extra money and picked up the harness. i actually purchased it off a guy on dsmtalk. he told me it was a 1g harness which it was, but im wondering if it is an HKS or an Apexi and if that makes a difference. I hear they are similar.

do you by chance have an alarm? I think thats why I have the same problem, my turbo timer won't keep the car on either.

i understand u spent the extra money for the harness hoping this would make this job a whole lot easier, but theres no difference between the harness. one company makes them and just packages them for the companies greddy, blitz, hks, apexi they are all make by the same company. like i mentioned before about getting a test light and check for constant power.:talon:

are you guys making sure you got a GOOD GROUND? i know my turbo timer used to mess up all the time because the wire suppled was too short and i had to kinda stretch it to get it grounded. when i finally got sick of it and regrounded the wire it worked perfect!

tstkl:
the car has no alarm as well as i know.

ginglingston:
i will try to get my hands on a test light. but shouldnt the stock ignition harness be wired up correctly. and if the harness just goegs in between, then it really shouldnt have to change anything.

to understand you correctly, are you saying i plugged into the wrong harness? or that the harness i purchased could be wired up wrong

dnhieu:
im pretty sure its a good ground.

to all:
if you guys go out to your cars, and turn the car from ON to ACC, do you feel a click before you get to acc, its not a big click, actually very unnoticeable. well this is where my turbo timer will activate. but if i go any further and get to acc, the timer turns off.

when you guys go to turn your car on, will the timer be on when the key is at ACC, or only at ON

I never paid too much attention, but I do have a blitz DC FATT II, and just went to give it a shot, and it does not turn on until I turn the key to on. It would not work for the longest time until I realized the parking brake wire was loose. Plugged it in and it works perfect.

mine stays on either in the ON or ACC position cause thats that only time i have constant power and yes there was a very small click. tom morning im gona splice a constant power line back into the harness, then i just gotta figure out why it resets after a few minutes?:talon:

thats wierd why mine doesnt have constand power when i am in the ACC position. i will try to check my parking brake wire.

think about it, if the key was in the ACC position then you should have power because your radio, windows, etc will all work in the ACC position. ok im gona try to figure out my problem:talon:

ok i just spliced a constant power wire and the tt works correctly, but i know exactl what u mean about that clicking thing, i hear it about 5-10 seconds after the car shuts off. and then i usually check and i notice all my settings reset back to factory settings. i tried to figure this out a while ago and i was testing for power and ground when this click would happen and i had constant power and ground so idk why it would reset.:talon:

where did you get the constant power from? did you splice it into the plug and play harness? or what? i am surprised no one else has had this problem. is this just a problem with my car's stock wiring?

guys, i honestly cant get this thing working. do i have to hardwire the turbo timer, if so, thats just stupid. why purchase a harness if i still have to splice it. any ideas?
