ok i have to get the bad compression fixed in my engine this summer, and while its all apart i wanna install new pistons and rods... i decided for no turbo, because i just dont have the money

so what would be the best pistons to install in a 2g n/a??

Go with eagle robs and JE 10.5:1 pistons. Wont change the running profile of the car much, 4% increase in power, and easy to do since youre rebuilding anyways.

I will never run anything less than 10.5s in my 2GNT ever again. Even plan on boosting them in the next year or so. JEs are fine. I'd stay away from Wiseco (How many pistons have to break on you before you don't like them?). Currently running a set of custom forged 10.5:1 CR Venolia pistons. I guess they're supposed to be the same composition that Sean Glazer runs, ran or something. :shrug Got them from ERT and they're very sweet pistons. :thumb:

10.5 is nice. I've been running 10.5 CP pistons for a while now. They probably would have made an improvement on my track time if I actually went to the track more often...but now I'm boosting, so that whole N/A timeslip is goin out the window soon.

what kind of boost pressures are you running with that compression ratio?

10psig till I can get it to the dyno and tune it in good with a wideband.
MetalJim is the man. 'Nuff said. :thumb:

10.5:1 pistons and get them .020 overbore. Eagle forged Rods are sweet too.

If I was you though, I would have my crank and bed plate reground also. Then get oversized bearings. This way your entire bottom end is new and snug. I had a machine shop bore my motor .020 over and 10-10 my crank and bottom end, and also balace my entire bottom end for $180... but I think I got really lucky.

At least have that shit inspected. I had purchased oversized rods/mains and dropped them off to my machinist, but he spec'd everything out and said that standard sized bearings would be fine. That's quality service right there. He could have just done the work and made some more money, but he was a straight-shooter and did me right. If you find a shop like that in your area, you should support them and send them as much business as you can. :thumb:

On a related note...
+.020", hone, deck, full balancing, gapped rings, spec'd bearings, and assembly of the shorty ran me ~$500 and took all of one week.
