Well Ive been slowly puting my car back together after a blown head gasket. So today I double check everything to reassure that its ok after just puting it all back together, then I go ahead and start the car.It starts instantly then right off the bat my car is making ticking noise that just increases with rpm. Already pissed that I might have bent valves I went ahead and took it for a drive anyways. It built boost good and still hauled ass, but the ticking sound was still there when I came back from about a mile drive. This was my first time puting on a timing belt and I had everything lined, so I dont know what I did wrong here? Ive never done a compression test so help me out here. Where do I buy a compression tester?

if its my lifters then thats new, they never made any noise before my head gasket went out

Did you ever take the cams out, and then re-install them without bleeding the lifters?

I would say it's your lifters, you can try bleeding them, or just wait and see if the ticking will go away after a little time and some driving after they get a lot of oil. Also you can try a different oil...

I bent all the intake valves on my car, after changing the head the car made a ticking noise for the first couple heat cycles (to seat the HG proper) and after about three cycles i took it around the block and the noise slowly stopped. give it a couple days and dont run it rough or you will blow your new gasket. good luck man
