I heard some horrible knocking from my car and then my car wouldn't start a few weeks ago. So right after, I did a compression test. After bad results, I decided I probably bent some valves. When I pulled my head, it is quite evident that every single intake valve was knocking against my pistons because there are little indentations right where the intake valves come down and that explains the knocking noise. I now need advice on what I should do. I definitely need new valves, but what do you recomend, taking my head to a machine shop? Getting a new one that is rebuilt online and by who? Just replace the valves? Replace the whole head? If you could please help on any information me I would really appreciate it, this is my only car, so it's really not just a project that can be sitting around. Thanks.

I would just take it to a machine shop and get it all redone. surface, valve job, new/used valves for any that are bent. have them look it over. If you planned on eventually pgrading the valve train for some high hp you might as well do it now.

Well, you could always just get replacement valves and take it to a machine shop and have them fix it. The only problem is that if the valves bent bad enough, it probably cracked the valve guides also. This would result in a pretty expensive bill in the end.

You would probably be better off getting a rebuilt head but I personally wont reccomend anyone because that always comes back to bite me in the ass.

The cheapest route to go would be to purchase a good used head, replace valve seals on it, and install it. It all really boils down to how much you want to spend.

EDIT I just noticed you are from the burg. There are plenty of dsmer's in your area that might be able to help you get a good used head. If you need, pm me and I will give you some people to cantact.
