This just happened to me yesterday. I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a main road, and started accelerating. I put it into second gear and kept going, i got on it, hit boost, then the tranny threw the shifter out of second gear into neutral and I heard a loud bang under the hood. Then it kept clanging. I pulled over, and it kept bangin. When its in neutral, clutch disengaged it makes a loud nasty banging noise in the bell housing. When i push the clutch in, the noise goes away..........I tried to get it in reverse and move the car, but it doesnt want to move, so I stopped messing with it. Its in a parking lot right now..............I just put an ACT 2100 and XACT Flywheel in like 2-3 months ago.................what the hell is going on?

You're going to need to take that tranny out of the car. When you put it back together, did you put the clip on the TOB? Did you make sure that everything was torqued properly? Also, how old is the tranny? Be honest - do you beat on it at all?

Sounds to me like your input shaft got fubar because I had a similar thing happen from lack of lube. Only difference is, I lost my upper gears first (5th, then 4th, then 3rd...)

The anomoly here is that you just put in a new ACT2100 and I had mine in the car for 2 years before the tranny went. You may have had something as simple as one of the springs in the clutch popping out and it's making a banging noise until you move the clutch away from the flywheel.

I believe the input shaft is referred to as the shaft that your clutch and tob sit on? Am I wrong there?

Definitely get that tranny out of there and see whats what.

well, before i dropped the tranny, i noticed that you could drive in reverse with little problem. It was only when it was in gear that it felt like the tranny would catch after each tire rotation going forward. That would be the differential right?

I already dropped the old tranny, and got a rebuilt one from TRE. The new tranny is in and working great.
