Not sure what suspension looks like in 2G but I replaced mine in my 1G.

Pry the boot off to see if there is a snap ring holding the ball joint in there. If so then it should be able to be pressed out and replaced. Finding one to throw in there is a different story.

I'm about 90 % sure they need to be bought with the whole arm anyways most lower control arm based cars now days only have it available in a whole arm. If you can find them separate they are a press in you your going to need a press somehow. I'd say save yourself the headache and just go with the whole arm. You could always take it to a dealership and let them run your VIN to see if the recall has been performed on it. It's a safety recall so they should do it no matter what just a few options.

Yeah I got that. I thought he needed the ball joint. They sell the ball joint. I am confused as to where the issue is.

Unless he actually means his upper ball joint because thats the only on a curved arm then it would be just a press in and it would be best to just go with a camber adjustable one.Which are the ones that are sold individual still would need to find a press to push it out.

The ball joints on the 2g LCA's are not serviceable. The whole arm has to be replaced. Given that the cost of the arm itself is about what a good ball joint costs anyway it isn't worth the headache of trying to replace it either. I looked into it at one point.

You don't need a press. I used a ball joint kit from harbor freight and it made pretty easy work of the ball joints.

Just buy the whole knuckle kit. It's about $150-170 and has both lower control arms and a knuckle that you can use as a paper weight.

Where are you getting the whole knuckle kit for that price?

Im about to replace brakes, rotors, lines, and ball joints so that woul be a grea tbuy right now to save some money
