Ball Joint Gave Out, Caused Body Damage. Need parts. Recall Info?

It's not that its far, but I don't want to bother to go out there and find a stripped down pile of junk like is usually the case. It's been on the lot for over 2 weeks. Plenty of time for folks to have picked it pretty clean...

How would you know if you haven't seen it? I found 2 2gb's at the pick n pull off of Oakland road. 1 was stripped but the one that sat there for 2 week and was only missing fuses.
 
Mitsubishi is not backing the recall anymore if you have already had it done on your car. Everybody please check your ball joints. This doesn't have to happen to you.

Went in for a fresh 2gb at commercial yesterday. Got the door molding. Got some ball joints on the way $60. Ordered a new axle from mitsubishi for $200... shit is expensive. Currently trying to find time to get it all squared away, but can't really work until all the parts are here.

While waiting for parts, I'm trying to find a way to make my car look like it didn't roll around in the junkyard and come out a couple different colors. I've got a black door molding, a magenta-grey fender cap and a kinda faded red fender. I picked up some Krylon plastic paint in the brightest red color I could to try and match them temporarily until I can afford a respray.... During some test paint, it did not look so hot sprayed right on to the pieces. I've taken to sanding them down and probably going to primer them with something else lighter in color. Does anyone have any experience backyard mechanic-ing some paint matching?
 
Damn that sucks bro...i just read the thread, how the heck did that happen? dude.... dupli-color man, works wonders hahaha, look for the dupli-color ford and gmc, chrysler doesn't have the red you need, ill look into the color matching for you....hmmm Just thinking i might have someone who can do the repaint for cheap but you needa come up with the paint yourself.
 
Mitsubishi has f'ed me over twice now on this. I placed an order for the axle I need and they decided 4 days later that they all of a sudden didn't have it in stock and couldn't send it to me. Awesome..... Anybody who knows somebody parting an awd or has one around, please get back to me asap. I really want to avoid a cheapy autozone axle.
 
hey i have a boy that works at veracom mitsubishi if you want me to ask see what he can do also there is a recycling place in sac that has parts used for cars in good condition I got my axle from autowharehouse.com so my cal is running great good match good price but oem try the 2 before resorting to online

the have good deals and is in sac if you want you can pay for gas on my civic hebrew and we can go and get it LOL

Thanks for looking out, and that site looks pretty legit. Bookmarked for future use for sure. But I found an axle last night from S&M autoparts. They had an ad in the supporting vendors and I sent them a flyer in desperate hope. Getting it shipped today. All my parts are officially on the way. Sadly, the eclipse won't be making the meet tomorrow though. Or the conquest. The turbo is spitting oil in that one. I just can't win. Look out for me in a Suzuki Samurai!
 
For those wanting to blame their neglect on Mitsubishi, and have not had the privelage to read the official TSB information about the ball joint recall.

The recall covers the ball joints installed at the factory due to a problem at assembley that led to the possability of dirt or sand being caught under the ball joint boot prior to installation. This led to "premature" failure and the potential for damage and or injury to the persons driving the affected vehicle thus the liability and need for a recall.

A Ball joint is still a wear item and should be inspected regularly. Only because of the design of this suspension the ball joint is bearing load whenever the vehicle is on the ground and may not always present itself as being faulty, unless the vehicle is raised in the air.
