Hey all,
What is the difference between BB units and non BB units as far as prices, HP comparos and hookups and such. What BB units are ppl using now, what's popular?

It's a noob question, I know, sorry.

Check out SBR for some pricing info, here the link to the Garrett BB and non BB turbos.

As far as what people are looking at, not quite sure about everyone else, but before my 7-bolt took a crap I was lookin at the GT30 or GT35. I believe those all require the regular t3 hardware is required for these to bolt up...exhaust manifold, o2, etc.

Also, I think BB turbos require LESS oil pressure than others, so I've heard some recommend to not feed it from the oil filter housing. I've seen them fed through the stock head location with an in-line oil filter.

BB turbos are very sweet...you can blow on them and they start spinning. There is a good video i've seen where a guy shuts his car off and the turbo is still spinning for like a minute afterwards :thumb:

The difference in spool swapping from a 50-trim to a ball bearing 50-trim on a friends car was about 250 RPM's. They cost more to purchase, and much more to rebuild. IMHO the 400-500 dollars you spend upgrading it to ball bearings is better spent elsewhere.

Yes you get a quicker spool, but it is the transient boost that is remarkable with a BB turbo. Between shifts you don't loose as much spool, thusly giving you more boost when you get back into the throttle. This is good for the drag strip, where the faster you can get power the better, but it is AWESOME for auto-x where any time without boost is precious tenths off your lap time.
