Baer Front Brake Upgrade ?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Baer is one of the most respected brake upgrades for our cars. Do some looking around and I'm sure you will see that it is a great kit and used by quite a few people.

I have them and I love them. I also have the powerslot big brakes on the rear. It's a great setup I think. Check www.hopupracing.com, they seem to have great prices, that's where I got mine from.

hi, thanks a lot for fast answers.
Does anyone of you have some pics how the bear brake looks on
a 18" wheel?

I could not find one...

Look at my vehicle profile. I have one pic. 13" Baer track with 18" Enkei MM2

I have Baer Pro kit Alcons 4 pistons with 13", I'll say its rocks, really, never fade, so much clamping force (19% more then stocK) + the results of having bigger rotors + good big wide pads (almost double superf. of stock) = awesome. But one thing = SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK more then a bus, maybe more like a train, sometime people put their hands on their ears (no joke) and no noise at all ??-- But the PBR 2 pistons should not do that... great upgrade even whith the noise, I'll try BG stop squeak next summer.

I doubt the calipers have much to do with the squeek... what other pad options do you have?

I've tried street pads, street/tracks pads... It's not the calipers who squeaks, but maybe because of the calipers, we have a differents kind of pads (biggers) it do the squeak. I never heard somebody with the PBR 2 pistons doing noise like a train. But speaking of train those Baer pro kit could stop a train... tough.

Give me your pad plate number or its profile and I'll fix you up with some Poly Q pads that won't do that. Save these for light track use or whatever you like. With the pad number I can probably offer you over half dozen compounds. The Wilwood pad line extends well past their own brand calipers.

I am looking to get that exact kit soon. Easy install?

Yes, it's easy to install. Everything is bolt on. All that's to it is bolting a bracket to the spindle and bleeding the system. Everything else is like a regular rotor change. Just make sure that you use a line wrench to get those old lines off if you are putting stainless on. I screwed one up and had to use vice grips. They worked well.

Where did you get the 4-piston setup from?

price?

I have great luck with PF Z-rated for my Baer's. No squeak, great stopping power on the street and confidence into triple digits. I switch to 01 for the track which I highly recommend to anyone. I have converted all of my Hawk buddies to PF for track use on a variety of platforms: Vette, Mustang, etc. I use PF exclusively on my car(except on the rear, I use the porterfields.)

PF 01 for track or Z
