Back again and need some imput on car chocies.

Back and kicking around again for a 2G DSM. It's a love hate thing. Right now I have the fallowing cars I'm planning on looking at. The car will be a second car, kinda of a toy. I just want something I can rip around and rip around in.

1995 Talon turbo. 140k asking $3gs. I havent seen it yet, I'll get pictures. I'd most likely give him $2k if its wihte or black and walk away if its any other color regardless of condiition Very high mileage in my opinion.

I live over in South Bend so if you know of any good tubo cars for sale in the 3g ball park that would be great. I don't feel like searching cross country this time around. Can I expect to find a nice 2G Turbo for 3gs or am I asking to much? Most recent few that I've seen that where nice where 96-97s and in the 7-8k range with 80-100k. Autotrader right now has a lot of people on doop wanting 9-12k for a 97-98 with the 70-100k range.

Was the 1997 the year to stay away from because of crank-walk? All help welcome. Thanks.

TURBO... There should be no decision between a turbo and a n/t. 140k is high milage, I just bought a 95 gsx with 130k.. However once you start to rebuild and clean it up mileage really shouldnt be a problem. Just get the turbo if you can and clean it up nice. And by the way I found my turbo for 3500. But i happen to be in the right place at exactly the right time.. Happy hunting

Now I can't remember, I've looked at so many types of cars now..
Does the 2g have any transmission quarks. Shoudl I focus on only 5spds or Auto or is it safe just to get whate ever I want? Does it make a difference if its Turbo, N/A or AWD?

Well I have owned an Rs which would get wooped by my moms Blazer. Ther are not fun to drive in my opinion. And now I own a GSX which is a blast to drive especially w/ AWD. You asked about the crankwalk. Its not only in the 97's its in all gen2's 95 96 97 98 99. 99 being the year with the least. Probably just due to the 99's having less milage. Im not sure bout the reliablity of the tranny. I have yet to study up on that but I will tell you that AWD does have more things to break. But is more fun to drive than a gst. I have drivin both and do prefere the hookup of AWD. I say if your looking for something "Fun" to drive go with a turbo. GSX if possible but GST's tend to be easier to find at good prices.

Oh yeah almost forgot go with the 5 speed. Its much more fun.

Thanks, yeah, I'm shooting for a 5spd. Above post was a confusing with the and :thumbdown . That was for the color, I hate red ^_~. However a deep dark purple (Corrado Purple) is just sexy, even more so on a "chick car".

Their not chick magnets, their chick cars.. fast, sexy, awsome chick cars.

Well darn. Forgot my digi-camera!!

However! Car was great!
1995 Eagel Talon Turbo TS-i. 145k miles.
Black grey interior.
Exterior and interior where flawless, inside looked brand new.
The engine bay was clean, wiht only some surface rust (flakey stuff) on the sides, I thihk it will sand out good, I hope, seen a lot worse.

The car drove good, shifted very smooth, sounded good, clutch was A+. Didn't feel much faster then a strong V6 though, (Ala Taurus or Monte Carlo), no real sports car (FC Turbo, WRX, SRT-4).

Rattle coming from the back driver side, both I and the owner didnt know what it was, but it has been there for about a year now.

Owner is a older lady, late 40's. She bought the car in 1996 with 38k miles and works in Elkhart, (hour drive). So in the last 9 years she racked up 100k miles. She is selling it because she is getting old and tired of shifty and being cramped. Bought a sedan.
New tires, new rear-brakes, new waterpump (last summer) and new starter (last winter). Timing belt was changed at 78k miles and she guesses it needs changed again seeing its been about 70k miles. Gets 33mpg on her highway trip back and forth from work. She thinks I'm nutz for wanting a 5spd "tiny car" (I'm 6'5).

I'm taking the car to the shop for an inspection latter. Its not the greatest thing in the world, but its the best looking DSM Turbo I have yet to see under $7,000!!!!!!

Thats funny im 6'5. But for some odd reson we do fit in these cars. DSM's do have a good amount of leg space. However no one can sit behind me when im driving. Glad to hear you picked it up though. Have fun man.

Havent bought it yet, but I will, going to take it to a shop in a day or so to get it looked at. Make sure everything is up to spec.
