OK my first stock clutch lasted me 75K miles. I've probably got some pretty bad habits (no racing but I slip the clutch from time to time) but curious what other people have gotten out of their stock clutch.

Also the aftermarket OEM ones seem to come with a plastic throwout bearing. The maker explained this was actually better than metal because it heated up less. Just wondering your thoughts on this and is the stock one plastic as well?

Don't know about the plastic aspect of it. I think that's just the outer housing of the thing. My OEM clutch lasted 142k+. :shrug My second clutch, a PTCruiser unit, lasted about 14k before the starter plate came loose and the four, Grade 10 bolts that hold it in shredded the inside of the bell housing. That clutch practically fell apart when we pulled the engine to inspect things.

Just trying to decide $200 for whole kit OEM aftermarket or priced from dealer over $400 easily.

My OEM Clutch is at 145k+....I'm starting to notice a lil wear on it now but still as strong as the day i bought the car ...and i do race the car on occasions too.. :thumb: ....so i haven't pulled a clutch assembly apart yet on a DSM to see this plastic piece...but if its in there I'm gonna use it (new one of course) :dsm:
