Hey guys. I am trying to decide if it would be better for me to get an Apexi AVC-R or a GReddy Profec B Spec II boost controller. Right now I do not need one quite that high tech, however I plan to run the FP3065 in the future and I want to make my good purchases early. I can get an AVCR for about $320-390 and the Profec B for about $200. What do you guys think? I know that a lot of you have the Profec B, but I thought it was mainly becuase of the cost of the AVCR.

Well what do you guys think? Go with the Apexi AVCR for $100 more? Or go with GReddy Profec B for $100 less?

Thanks a lot guys.

The AVC-R is the hardest boost controller to program and it has the most quirks, I'd avoid it like the plauge, I don't like the profec-II either.

I would go with a blitz.

where can you get a profac B for 200 ? I am in the hunt for one now .

I am interested as well... from what I have seen most people go with the GReddy Controller. What in particular do you dislike about it?

And guys, im actually buying used ones from a friend, which is why the prices are quite low!

I saw the profecb-II on one of my buddies car and the thing sucked. The boost wasn't reading in PSI and the gain control was a joke.

On the blitz I had you tell what PSI you want and then set the gains. I couldn't find anywhere on the profec where you tell it what PSI you to run and it would display like a 60-150 when it boosted instead of PSI.

I didn't find that helpful.

Maybe I just didn't know enough about it but a EBC should not be that hard to program.

well I have the AVCR and I am very happy with it. If you just look over the manual then itll be easy to set up. I had it installed somewhere so Im not to sure about the install but overall I am very happy with the boost controller, its great for my fwd.

Most of the fastest cars run a set boost and only run once a month.

Maybe the profec was set in pascals or whatever the metric equalevent is.... and boost is set by percentages if i'm not mistaken on the profec.

Edit: I think it also has a feature to change it to psi as well.

I've heard alot of complaints from Greddy Profec B spec II, But for some reason I kinda want this one, lots of poeple say that its all about good tuning and correct settings, then again after some research the Blitz Dual SBC Spec-S seems to be the same thing and maybe a little more accurate and less chance of overboosting...

Does someone (other the who already post) has great or good experience on this EBC's and care to give their 2 cents...

Well I am about to buy one of the 3 in the next 48 hours, so I need to know which one to get! Thanks guys. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Get the original profec-b. It's easy to use and works fine unless you plan to run some serious boost.

hehe i have a avcr and i like it a lot...but im still very usnure on how to use 80% of the things it offers like learn gear and throttle settings and crap i never touch i just know how to turn teh boost up...so save your moeny and dont buy one

What I have never understood about the attraction of EBC. Is how do you just turn the boost up, without completely retuning the car. With my setup,i cannot just add 3-4 psi without making fuel adjustments.

Or the car will just ping like crazy, make no power and frankly just be slow. Personally i have always found a boost level that works best with the type of fuel i am currently using. Then i tune the car around that boost level.

I have the HKS EVC IV and it is really easy to setup and everything, all you need to do is 2 third gear pulls; the first to find the stock boost levels (what point the actuatior opens) and the second is to see if the falls off towards redline and it will try to fix this, i think (did not help the t-25). After the 2 third gear pulls you just set low boost and high boost, and the boost controller will know what the second setting will be. There is also a scramble boost, so you can actually have like 4 boost settings.
