I am having problems with my eagle talon tranny... I checked the fluid, it was a nice brown, so I swapped out the filter and added some new fluid... I added about 3.5qts... it reads ok, but still won't switch into gears or stay well in gears.

it started when I was coming home from downingtown, at about 65 mph.. and then all of the sudden it downshifted, then shifted back, then downshifted and stayed in that gear. Now, my car when I'm driving, and between shifts the tranny just ####ing revs... it won't get into gears, and it doesnt like to stay in them either... I dunno what's going on. I know little about automatic transmissions. If anyone can help me... please, do so.

I dunno if its the clutch, or tranny itself...

its a 2.0L, automatic, N/A eagle talon, 90... someone please help

~Drew

I didnt know if I should of posted it here, or in the drivetrain/tranny section :thumb:

I decided to check if it was the OD, because people told me od goes on dsms... well, nope... it didn't feel anything too different really...

but when I put it into OD, and give it some gas, it'll rev... and then SLAM into gear...

the slipping is very similiar in what a manual would be doing if the clutch went bad, I get some power, but I definatly feel it slipping. it'll drive nicely, until you give it gas, then rev, then go into gear... going up a hill, it just switches gears on me and revs like a biotch...

*sigh*

Sounds like an internal problem, I'd get it to a tranny shop soon before something gets damaged more than it already is. Brown fluid might mean burnt clutches.

I've been told to never change the fluid in auto trannys. My grandpa did it in his van once and a week later the tranny went out coincidence maybe but i wouldn't do it. Take it to a tranny shop asap so you dont blow it up.

update [sorta]:

Coming home from work, it was OD... and it just wouldn't grab shit, and I was revving, and it would go over 35 mph... anyways, I took off OD and it shifted... [still won't go into third]... I put OD back on, and it was ok... still a very hard shift to second and stays in that gear... Could it be electrical?

I doubt its the clutch now...

also, junk yards have quoted me about 450+ for an auto tranny... bastards

its going to Aamco, for a diagnostic test tomorrow morning

~Drew

Could be your transmission computer, it's right beside the gas pedal under the ecu. See if you can find someone with a good one to swap you for a little while to see if that cures your problem.

Dude, DON'T go to AAMCO!

Go to Chester County Trans if you live in that area, I know those guys and they'll take care of you. :thumb:
