I know many of you are suffering the same annoyance as I am...the paint is perfect on the car, everything looks good..then you look at your rubber trim on the windows and they are faded/oxidized/brown/dirty, etc.

I was going to buy new seals but I can spend $200! somewhere else, so I decided to go down to the local Autozone and see if I could find anything...and I did..Mothers Back-to-Black...While the product isn't perfect I'd say it reduced the appearance of fading at least 80%. So if anyone wants to fix it but don't have the money to buy new seals try it, I think you'll be satisfied with the results...just make sure you put a TON on there or it doesn't work to well.

Unfortunately I didn't capture before pictures, just after:

you might as well get a new seal. I've stripped mine and painted it flat black. It looked great for about a month, then it starts coming off. It will save you time and paint in the long run to just break down and buy one at the dealer.

Go buy some Krylon Plastic Paint in Satin Black. Mask off the surrounding area and spray it on. Mine has been holding up well for a year now.

you can spend $30 of that $200 on a panel for driver-side rear :p

Looks real nice though. Im gonna have to go buy some for mine. Good find :thumb:

Ditto LOL :thumb:

The painting stuff works well :thumb: ...just gotta put the right amount on and not let it run. if you see the majority of the interior of my car i used the krylon plastic paint and it also works real good on rubber. just gotta let it dry longer and don't get jumpy about wantting to put it back on. :p

The duplicolor trim paint works great too. :)

Also, the seals are cheaper than you think. I recently replaced all of mine. The only one I didnt do was the quarter window seals- not because of price, but because the seal and glass is one assy.

#1- Which moldings are we talking about?? The ones where the door meets the window? If so, even $36 is a good price.

#2- Salem, OH???? I was born there, and lived there till I was 14. I will be coming up there this summer- we should hang out!

I replaced those drip moldings as well- dealer list price is $30.52 per side.

My rubber trim was cracked and fading right below the windows (to the point of exposing the metal), so I sanded them down, taped them off with newspapers, and sprayed on a few coats of rubberized undercoat. That was a couple months ago, and so far it's working great.

I re-painted mine with high glos black yesterday. Definately not perfect but it looks alot better
