Hey guys,
So I've got an order going through Andy's Autosports (BTW no one ever ever buy from these guys, more trouble then you want to know) and I waiting on an order for the apexi fmic since ohhhhhhh August. Anyway I eventually get a straight response from these guys twice in a row now. They called up Apexi for me to find out what was taking so long and their FMIC core is being redesigned OMG This is pretty much the only reason I'm still waiting on this order because I know they spend sweet time on their R&D and I'm hoping the end product is going to be worth it. So I guess this is more a question to any vendors out their that have been trying to get a hold of apexi fmic's. What have you heard?! Anyone else know anything about this and what ya'll think?

-Chris

I think that is complete hear-say/ rumor unless there is a statement or evidence directly from Apexi stating that they are redesigning the FMIC for the DSM.

Seeing from your own statements, you were dealing with a shady vendor, it would seem to me they would make up whatever is necessary to stop you from calling them.

Their is no question as to whether they are redesigning the FMIC core, as I have heard this from two seperate sales reps now that have had Apexi on the other line. I tried calling Apexi myself but they dont give the public the time of day. Actually at one point started checking around for another vendor that sold them but with the expception of one vendor that was really cool and called me back after doing some research, all vendors to my knowledge are unable to order this part through Apexi. First vendor to prove me wrong has a customer :p

This is a little off topic of the purpose of the thread but.......
mainly its a matter of form AND function. The design is solid and proven and the overall concensus seems to be, for all practical uses (ie not a straight drag car) not one company is better then any of the others. So then I look at form and say, I'm not going to have to worry about the fins bending and I especially like the way the plate design looks. The goal of the car is to hopefully become one of those well balanced show/ partial strip cars. So in short ,for the most part, its been proven to work just as well and in my personal opinion, looks the best.

i guess they got pissed that their design would be associatted with OBX so they are changing their design. Apex always seems to be back ordered so shipping sometimes takes a while but i spoke to Apex a few days ago and they didn't mention it. i can ask tomorrow.

Its a FMIC, not really a huge blingy piece. The apexi core is small, so it is not at all nicer looking than alot of the larger alternatives. It costs more than most of the other alternatives. It obviously isnt in stock, so you're sitting there waiting and bitching for months on end for this unit. And in the end it seems that you really arent even worried about performance from it anyway. Fins bending is a very mild dilema of a real FMIC, Ive had mine for a year and a half now and hardly have any bent fins at all. Do what you want, but really hearing your comments and position, you just dont seem to make sense with this purchase. I am one to care highly about looks, Id show you pictures of my car, but that would just get a little off topic, but even I think that the move you're trying to make is a bad one. Take my opinion for what its worth, but really everything is telling you not to get this core but you still insist.

I'm getting a good price as we bought this as part of a package deal so that isn't a concern. According to my research (which I've done plenty of), their isn't anything wrong with this FMIC. I'm not saying its the best by any means but its meets my goals and probably higher. Furthermore, their is obviously a difference between this FMIC and "bling". It's not a hubcap that spins, its a functioning piece of the car. Most people on here would agree that they care what their car looks like and like I said earlier, I'm trying to eventually compete in shows. I've compared the design to others, and yes it is smaller but the delta fin design increases the efficiency allowing it to compete with bigger ones like the 24R Greddy. I still like the way it looks compared to the others. I'm sure some will agree and I'm sure many will disagree but thats a matter of opinion so isn't really relevent. Am I mad that I haven't received the part, yes but that isn't the purpose of the thread, I was just letting people know not to buy from them. Am I still going to hold out for one thats just come out of R&D yes. In effect I've paid for an older model and if I dont like how it's turned out, I can always send it back. That WAS the purpose of the thread though; to find out if anyone had any insight or knew anything about apexi developing a new core. I am by no means bitching about apexi, infact I'm rather excited to see what they are gonna come up with.

Edit: prostreetdsmx1, hey I just saw your post, yeah if you could give them a ring and verify what I heard if you could. I'm curious as to what they are changing about it mainly, but whatever you hear definetly post! :thumb:

Thats fine, like I said its only my opinion, you can take it for what its worth. I dont mean to hijack your thread as so many do on these forums, this is the first time I've heard of a new design for Apexi.
