anyone running Ross 10:1 pistons

I am getting ready to rebuild my engine, and a guy has a set of brand new Ross pistons cheap. I was going to go with 2g pistons but I can buy these for the same price. The only problem is the guy that is rebuilding my engine said they might be really hard to tune on the street, and I thought the compression was really high for a turbo engine. If anyone has these, and especially on a street car let me know what you think. I can get them for 250 with rings, and pins. .20 over. any help is appreciated.
 
Thats too high.. On the upside if you went with them your 14b would be perfect. Its really efficient at 8psi :thumb:
 
I went with wiseco 8.8~9:1 compression for my stroker. I always thought 10:1 would be high for street use. You'll have to run a high octane otherwise you'll get knock. Not sure if 93 pump would suffice. Not saying you can't do it, if you do, your just sacrificing boost. You won't be able to run as much boost as you would on a lower compression setup. Give and Take. I prefer a lower compression and crank the boost :D

Can't go wrong with 400whp. (Unless you're shooting for more?)

How much boost can I run, will it handle 93 or 94 octane, and will it be a reliable setup. Thanks
 
Were you talking about the 2g pistons, I wasn't paying attention that you replied to comment. Thanks and disreguard the last statement

I'd say your safe up to 400HP, even at 400 I think its only a matter of time before something gives.
 
Let me rephrase, I was referring to a 2G stock bottom end handling 400hp. Personally, I still wouldn't trust it. If your going to be making that much power I would rebuild the motor. Otherwise you'll just end up costing yourself more money and time in the long run. More power to the guys that are seeing those numbers on 1G rods and 2G pistons. Not trying to flame anyone but I personally wouldn't trust it. Just my 2cents
 
I run Ross 10.0:1's and the car performs great on pump gas. I drive the car every single day back and forth to the gym, work, the shop and in traffic. 16-17psi daily with no knock on 91 octane.

So what would you recomend then for the average person 9:1 or 10:1?

What turbo are you running. Did you see my mods. I would love to get them, thanks for the help. I might be asking you a few questions later on. Thanks again
 
I am still running an SCM61 but with a P trim turbine wheel instead of the T350. Feel free to PM me with any questions about my setup or jsut post back in this thread.
