Ive seen the 2g ones fiberglassed .. but never a 1g. I just recently came across a full 90 tsi dsm interior for my car for $25 and i am in the process of painting it all flat black. I wanted a complete black interior for my car. The guy gave me the dash but said he didnt know if id want it or not .. due to the peeling passenger side. Since this happens in all of the 1gs i wasnt worried and had one that wasnt too bad already in the car.

What id like to do is fiberglas the 1g dash .. in place of the part that is 'squishy' or 'padded'. The plastic parts of the dash can stay the way they are as well as all the black trimmed peices. The main thing i want glasses is the center section that wraps over the gauge cluster side and around in front of the passenger (usually grey or tan).

With the glass i was thinking of molding two gauge pods into the passenger side of the dash angling them toward the driver side to give it a little character. I also was thinking of maybe molding in a spot for my AFC II

If anyone has any suggestions on what else to do .. or has pictures of someone who did it in a 1g before please post them or let me know! I have a friend who has some glassing skills and he will be showing me how to do it as well as helping me out through out the process. The best part is its all in my garage and easily accessable .. and i still have a full interior inside the car!! :thumb:

Thanks guys!!

Gimme some help if you can!! :dsm:

i started working on a 1g dash but started is about all i did so far. i also made a mold for the center console which will blend right into the dash. its not going to be shaped just alittle bit different then stock, but nothing too crazy. good luck with your project and post pics when you do it.

You have pictures of yours? Or do you know of anyone else whose tried?

Thanks Lemme know!
