the big (1/4" or so) black one is the actual connection, disconnecting it won't stop it from raising and lowering, at the head unit you should have replaced that connection with the new one for your glass ant. To stop it from raising and lowering you'll find 2 or 3 other smaller wires running to the ant. motor. I don't remember the color codes, but one of them is constant on 12v+ , another is the negative ground and the third would be the switching wire from the headunit to tell it when to raise and lower the ant. when the headunit is on. It is safe to clip all 2 or 3 and cap them (you don't want shorts) and that will stop the antenna...but leave enough slack in the lines so that you can reconnect them if you descide you want it back later :D

ok now when i had the front compartment by my seat where you can see all the wires from the cd player i saw another silver antenna connection that wasn't connected to the CD player is that the glass antenna? thanks again!

if that is where you ran the connection from the glass ant. from then yes it probably is :D basically it's like this:
The headunit will have a connection for the ant.. back at power ant. there is another connection. between the headunit and the power ant. there is that black cable we talked about...think of it as an extension cord to get the power ant. to the headunit. Your glass ant has either a permanently attached ant cord....or like the power ant., just a socket to plug a cable into. You can plug it into the end of the extension cable...in the same place the power ant connection was...or you can plug it directly into the headunit...it will work either way.

You hope to run the radio off just the glass antenna? You may want to try that, first.

Just unplug the harness from the antenna motor. The glass antenna has a smaller connector than the main mast- if you have the factory radio, there's two sockets on the back of it, one for each.

like i said i don't really listen to the radio im in Vermont we don't really have many radio stations up here so i just don't want that fishing pole sticking up from my car it really detracts from the look of the car. are those 3-4 wires attached to the bottom of the antenna assembly anyone got a pic of the assembly before i go cutting up wires? oh yea it is an aftermarket CD player. thanks again guys

This isn't rocket science.
A) disconnect all wiring from motorized antenna. (either by unpluging the harness or clipping and isolating the lines)
2) Install new glass antenna in rear window
3) find the big black 1/4" or so cable which was connected to the stock antenna
4) plug your new glass antenna into that black cable (may require extensions or adapters available at radio shack and other fine retailers near you.
5) Check your aftermarket headunit/cd player/radio to make sure that the same black antenna line is going into it.

ok i got the antenna disconnected the easy way i found a little brown box next to all the wires and also where all the wires were connected to so i just unplugged the brown box and voila it was done thanks for all the answers guys!!
