Ok two days ago i pressure washed my car and the engine bay too. i let most all the water air dry and then took the car for a spin well it of course ran like crap with the engine bogging and not really building boost but like other engines i have cleaned once it was ran for a while it ran great. Oh yeah the oil was a little low because mainly of a leaky valve cover gasket, i put a quart of oil in it which brought the oil level up to just like a 1/16 inch above the notch. well later that night we went driving around and went like 50 miles with no problems, and then i pulled over and called a friend with the car idling. I looked down and noticed the oil pressure guage was all the way to the right, buried. So i of course was like ahhhhhh!!! and shut the car off and watched the needle slowly go go half way then stop for like 10 seconds then slowly go the rest of the way down. The guage hasn't worked since, so i checked every fuse in the car and they were all good, and i checked by the oil filter and the wire that attaches to the drum thing was connected but dirty so i cleaned the oil off and no worky still. the only wire i noticed out of place was a yellow wire that was dangling more toward the front of the car, and it looked like it was cut or pulled out of some thing but i couldn't see where it went every thing else looked like where it was supposed to be. could some one please help explain what might be wrong and maybe how the guage works so maybe i can figure it out.

thanks for the help and sorry for the long post.

My oil pressure sending unit has the wire torn off and I had to crimp a new butt connector on there. Just check the sending unit near the filter housing, it's the only wire.

Most likely the wire connection came off, look around by your oil filter housing and see if you see anything hanging.

+1. Mine was too, It's in a spot down there where that can happen easily.

ok i will look to see if i can see where that cut/broken yellow wire went but is there a way i could test the sending unite like with a light tester or a polarity tester, or even a multi meter?

P.S. 95 gst

i saved your pic on my computer to show my friend who has a dk green 95 gst. I told him to paint his car that color and he was like heck yes. Sweet color there is nothin like that around here. :thumb:

i found the problem it was the guage it self so i replaced it and then i put back the guage cluster turned the park lights on and the dash lights came on and when i put the head lights on the dash lights went out. then after a bit the dash lights wnt out completely. all my fuses are good and it probaly isnt the radio because i have had it in for a few weeks and i also install car stereo for an occupation so that is most likely done right. does any one have a clue as to what happened?

check the 100amp Alternator fuse. I had that happen to me about a month ago and all kinda crazy things started to happen. When I looked at my fuse, it looked fine, until I took it out and it was blown at the bottom. Hope this helps.

found the problem it was the dimmer switch, i swapped it for the one out of my parts car and ta da i have lights and all my guages work. :thumb:

Had the same issue with my oil sending unit for the 2G and oil was leaking everywhere. Scared the crap outta me. :p Cost is about $60cdn to replace from napa.
