Ok I'm having a lot of weird problems with my electrical system (headlights turn on but wont turn off, power windows/locks dont work). I've searched and came to the conclusion I more than likely blew the alt fuse. Now I need to know where the fuse is and how to replace it. On the cover that goes over the fuses by the pedals was covered by electrical tape and tore off the schematics that tell what fuse is what.

the alternator fuse should be in the engine bay.. with other fuses like the start motor and etc.. i believe it should be some where around there.

Ok it isn't going smoothly. With the new alt fuse in the battery sparks on both + and - with the other unconnected. With the battery connected and alt fuse not in the fuse sparks when you put it in. So is this mean a groundwire on the alternator got blown. Their is a stray wire coming off the alternator that is blueish green that must be the ground wire but I dont see where its supposed to be grounded.

....maybe i misunderstood what you said... but did you say that if the + is not connected to the battery, and you touch the - wire to the - terminal... you get a spark:confused:

do you happen to have subs in your car? with a capacitor?

No whenever the postive is connected the negative sparks and vice versa. Not even a radio in my car.

Uhh... is this with the car running? Because if not, it makes no sense that your car has power with a cable disconnected.

Otherwise, if the car's off and you have, for example, the positive wire connected and it sparks when you connect the negative, that is normal.

Of course its when the car is off. It doesn't stop sparking so if you try to tighten it down its sparking the whole time.

this scared me on my car too... till i realized that the light in the hatch was on because the hatch was open... a 12v lightbulb draws a fair amount of current (power[watts] = Volts*amps)...
make sure all your doors are closed and that there's no power draw at all.. then try connecting it again... it shouldn't spark much... if it does, you have a short somewhere

Heres some pics of the loose wire. I had the battery charged so its ok. One question thou with the battery connected and the alt fuse in but blown shouldn't the car still get some power because thats how I drove it home but now it wont get any power at all.
