I have a 6 bolt swap and a walbro 255 fuel pump without an afpr. Yeah I know:nono:

My car has always idled high. Between 1800 and 2000. I tried isc, throttle cables, cleaning, and other various tips. I just went out and got a timing cover so I could check my timing. It was way off. It was advanced almost all the way. I put it at the little "T" mark and the idle dropped to normal. However, it runs like crap now. Its kind of like a boost leak. It jerks and bogs and hesitates horribly. I advanced it and it ran smooth (except for that damn 2k idle). Ideas?

Oh and my fuel line coming off the top of the fuel filter is kinked I think...always been like this...

Engine timing is fine. Did my timing belt about a month ago. Everything is still lined up.

And I have not performed a smoke test because I dont know how. I will have to look it up and try it. My vac is between 20 and 25 at idle. Usually around 25

Well to smoke test it you need a smoke machine. But you could try pressurizing your intake system to fine a leak.

Here is my thoughts on your issue. Ive idled cars fine at 5* timing and if your ignition system is working properly when you get off idle it should advance and the engine should make power just fine. so if you car is idling HIGH then either your computer is commanding the Idle air control motor to raise the rpms. OR the engine is receiving extra air( from a leaking gasket, hose etc..) and it cannot command the ICS low enough.

Ok well I will definitely try that tomorrow morning. You can do that with a can of seafoam also cant you? I have a healthy vac reading. I didnt think that unless it dropped below 15 on the gauge I should be worried.

I have noticed A LOT of oil around the front passenger corner of the head. I had a head gasket blow in that same spot before.

Just did a smoke test and there is a leak at the throttle body. Almost looks like its coming out of the throttle spring, but it must be the TB gaskets. Im gonna stop by pep boys and pick up the gaskets and throw them on.

What about that fuel line? Is that the way its suppose to be or is it bent? If it is, is it enough to cause a restriction?

And also, when performing a smoke test, if the "P" port on top of the TB is left open shouldnt smoke come out of it?

if its coming out by the spring it could be that you need to replace the o-rings on the throttle body plate shaft or w.e. its called.

Mine was leaking there just vfaq'ed and I found the heavy duty orings and its seals up nice!
