What wheel spacers can I add to my 99 GST with stock rims? Aside from improving the look by having the rear tires stick out a little more it should improve the handeling performance too right? What's a safe size spacer for the fronts and rears? Who makes them and who carries them? Thanks.

From the research that I have done on wheel spacers I believe you can safely run a 5 mm spacer without needing longer studs and still have 5 or 6 full turns on your lug nuts. As far as what kind to get and where to get them I would first start off by getting a hub centric spacer that is specifically designed with our hub specs to insure that you are not putting more stress on the studs. With that said I have found a company that makes this exact product, Supercar-Enineering.

Hope this helps :thumb:

The rule of thumb is that minimum thread engagement must be equal to the thread diameter of the wheel stud. So at 12mm, 1.5 pitch you need 8 full turns of thread engagement.

I agree with Wret and would add the warning that you can't use any general rule for safe spacer width with stock lugs (such as 5mm), because different wheels have different center thicknesses. A one-piece cast wheel almost always has deeper holes than a three-piece spun wheel, for example.

I would just get the longer wheel studs. They are cheap and easy to replace. Just save yourself the guesswork of whether you have enough room to thread your lugnuts. Or you could just go get wheels with the necessary offset so you don't have to play the wheel spacer/stud game. The spacers aren't going to enhance your performance. What they do allow is some room to do different things with your wheel and tire sizes (and possibly room for other things like brake kits) and THOSE will help performance somewhat.

You can do almost anything you want with those H&R mega-spacers with lugs, but it is usually cheaper (and safer and easier) to sell your wheels on eBay and buy new ones with the right offset.
