Hey guys I posted last night about the 90 elbow on a Greddy FMIC to Evo 16g turbo...Well I got it fix and A guy told me last night don't run it without a boost gauge...I was wondering if anyone know of a good accurate boost gauge for under a 100 and what do you guys suggest on what type of MBC I should get together with the boost gauge...I am shooting for a budget of $150.00 for both.....

Buy an autometer that shows vacuum and boost, and a hallman/turboxs/JoeP boost controller. You will be able to get both for 150 or under (much less if you find them used)

The reason I say to get the one that shows vacuum is that it is a handy way to tell if your car has a vacuum leak (which becomes a boost leak under pressure)

Just pay attention to how many inches of vac. your car runs normally, if it startes running less=vacuum leak.

you can get the boost gauges at auto zone... my auto zone has that exact auto meter gauge for cheap

and as far as MBC i have a NX MBC and it works great and the guy gives you a 5 dollar discount if you are part of this forum

ok done and bought it already now its time for the MBC i see one for really cheap like an ebay brand can you suggest any MBC that any1 has installed and proven to work well without the constant spikes?
here is an idea of what i am looking at and thinking of purchasing...eBay Motors: *New* Turbonetics Manual Boost Controller Turbo 0-50PSI (item 230336035676 end time Apr-15-09 04:34:40 PDT)or this oneeBay Motors: Turbonetics Manual Turbo Boost Controller VBC MBC Civic (item 230336035690 end time Apr-15-09 04:34:49 PDT) what r the difference??

I work at autozone and we dont have it we have sunpro..and i can get an employee discount but i dont really trust it and i dont know of anyone having the sunpro brand boost guage just the tach meter.. Sunpro boost guage run 39.99 and a cheap one for 28.99 but i just bought the autometer...

Is it gonna work for a TDO5 16G or is there any other things I should have before purchasing this item coz i dont wanna spend 100.00 just to find out i need to buy something else...here is a pic of my setup for my car hopefully it helps you...i dont really know how to install it just remember the boost guage is already bought so i dont wanna mess with things like missing t fitting or something like that. Here is my setup so far...Pictures by 95gsxguy_2009 - Photobucket

It will work well for any turbo.

You can do some research and find some a little cheaper that will work just as well. A JoeP comes to mind. I just know that I had this controller and loved it.

There again, I made my own from brass fittings and loved it too... so there you go.

men that looks complicated i dont have the little nipple thing on the j pipe but how and where am i gonna do with all the other hoses that hooks up to the wastegate actuator and the other hoses here what i am looking at for my car and its confusing me on how to set this up right...??turbo tdo5 16g picture by 95gsxguy_2009 - Photobucket

thanks men...whats the difference with this oneeBay Motors: The Joe P MBC Boost Controller (item 260315598990 end time Apr-12-09 13:18:52 PDT)does it have the + or - on the knob..??any one know?

That cheaper Joe P works fine. The newer on is a little lett prone to spikes and has very few moving parts, but the other one is aces too.

Here is an easier way to install the MBC. The main reason I gave you the other link was to lean how a MBC works internally.

All that BS about affecting the operation of the BOV is crap.

Just cut the vacuum line going to your BOV and "t" it with a plastic vacuum t, run that line to the "in" on the MBC. Run another line from the "out" to the wastegate vacuum line.

simple

awesome man thanks for the big help...I bought both the joe p and this item eBay Motors: NXS MBC MOTORSPORTS MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER ROCK SOLID! (item 260302639213 end time Apr-17-09 00:22:15 PDT) just to see if there are any differences I also got my wifes car to install the MBC so might as well do an experiment. Now the big question if they dont come with the hose and t fitting how can i know what size hose and t fitting to install.. Just remember I already bought 2 mbc so now I dont know if they will have the hose with them...??

I would much rather have a $20 gauge and a DIY boost controller with a logger than a dead on boost gauge and an expensive MBC. The knock, IDC, and MAF flow information is much more important than knowing boost, as long as you know boost within 1-2psi or so.

Just go to the parts store with the hoses and MBC's and hook them up there. Shouldn't be more than $.90 a foot or so. Standard black rubber vacuum line is fine.

Crap they both dont look like they have the t fitting and hose....hahaha...

I am also in the process of buying the aem uego....i am in a bind though because i have a 95 and i dont have the OBD2 hook up to where i can tap into my ecu....any one know of a solution..?..I am purchasing things as I get suggestions and as far as a boost controller with a logger i will look into it too..its not really gonna hurt me to get the 2 mbc i already bought as to where i got 2 turbo charged cars what confuses me though is what it will take to actually get the right turbo setup for my 95 gsx coz i am trying to make it street and track car...I am solving trying to improve things as i continue to purchase..today is just gonna be the turbo boost and any turbo related items like MBC and anything else with things dealing with boost.

People, learn to god damn edit your post instead of double posting. Jesus.
OP: search would have netted you hundreds of results. If you're that god damn lazy, please get off the internet. Autometer is a common gauge. Glowshift has been around but their quality is questionable. Prosport and Stewart Warner are also ones that won't break the bank. As for MBC's, here's a whole ####ing list of them.

wow big difference in price for the electronic one....maybe i will wait to see if the mbc will work out for me...it seems like majority of the people on here are running an MBC setup.

Hey you don't have to tap your uego into your ecu. The sensor is external, you will have to get a bung welded into your exhaust which will cost like $30 at your local exhaust shop. Then you just run power to the gauge.

Wow really i was looking all over the place for the obd2 port.. I will have to look at that tommorow...that is a big difference in the direction I want to do for my car now...Holy crap i did not know that. I thought OBD2 where only on 96+ vehicles as I was told when I was training to work at Auto Zone free check engine light son....yea..thanks man...
