Hi,
I'm trying to install a dejon tool 2.5" UIP on my 91 Talon. I have a few questions. First of all, the throttle body elbow I received with the pipe is diff from the OEM elbow. the flange On the one I got from Dejon is only about 1/4" thick compared to the 5/8" thick OEM elbow. Do I need to use shorter bolts? Also this effects the bracket the is on the CAS/head and goes to the throttle body elbow, since the flange I'm using isn't as thick as the OEM flange, it doesn't sit right. Must I have that bracket installed? If so how do I do it? get some spacers? I know I should have kept my 2G throttle body elbow and I wouldn't have any problems but I sold it so that's why the questions.

Another questions is I still have the side mount OEM I/C. Is this pipe going to benifit me at all since the I/C outlet is still the same size?

thanks for any replies :thumb:

My only known answer is that yes, your new pipe will benefit you because 1) it's a lot larger than your stock pipe and 2) it won't contract and expand like your old one did.

Thanks.

I need to know if I must have that bracket installed b/c I can't tighten the lower bolt (closest to head, not firewall) the elbow is just too large and I can't get to that bolt with the bracket on there. I guess I'll have to use it w/o the bracket b/c there is no Fu**ing way to get to that bolt. I'm about to take a sledge to the bit**.

i dont have the bracket, but when i pulled my motor i kinda wish i did. Everything was still doable though. I havnt had one for 2 years, no problems here

Well I think I just thought of something. I'm going to cut the piece off that goes to the lower bolt on the throttle body and at least I'll have the partial bracket. I was worried about the intake cracking or leaking if it wasn't on there. I know it must be there for a reason. I hope that works, If it doesn't I'll go w/o it since you say it hasn't effected anything.

Thanks for the info :thumb:

Well, I figured the bracket thing out (first pic) but now have another problem. The pipe is hitting my ABS and won't connect to TB elbow. Is this a ABS pipe? Any suggestions on how to get it to fit? (pics 2-3-4).
any help is much appreciated

That pipe wasn't made for an ABS car. If it was, the BOV flange would be on the bottom.

Also for your bracket problem, you could have just used washers instead of cutting that bracket.

Get in touch with Dejon tool if you ordered it from them, maybe they could work something out.

Good luck.

I checked out Dejon's website and figured out that is was Non ABS.

There was No way around cutting the bracket, The bottom bolt was impossible to get too with socket or wrench b/c the elbow was so much larger than the OEM elbow. I tried everything. I did figure out that I didn't have to cut it when I had to remove the elbow again I saw that the hole for that bolt was slotted which would have allowed me to move the elbow up enough to get to the bolt but I had the other 3 snugged up and didn't notice it until I removed it

I got the pipe on eBay for $80, he said it would fit ABS car :nono: . I'm going to take the pipe to an exhuast shop to see if they can bend it just a little more up by the head and I think it will work :thumb:. If not I guess I'll just whack the BOV flange off and have one made unless someone else gives me a better Ideal.

Thanks for the reply

No problem.

This is actually quite simple. Take it to a shop, have them cut off the pipe area with the bov flange, rotate it so the flange is pointed down, then voila.

The shitty thing is, the cost of that might not justify the trouble of having it done.

I recently installed an UIP on my 91. I kept the bracket in place. I used a 1/4" socket drive with the swivel on it. I was able to tighten it down really good that way. Good luck with your fix though.
