i just got a Garrett TA3103 with a A/R 1.06 turbine and a A/R .42 compressor.
is there any possible use on a DSM? anybody ever ran a similar turbo?
i have a 14b so i wanted to build something new, and that turbo is free.

here are some pics of the turbo. could i swap that huge turbine housing? get a .63 ?
any suggestion?
or just use it on another project.

Because the wheel is so large I don't think you could swap another housing on it. and if you did if probably wouldn't match up well.

I would recomment the bullseye power turbine housing. then you could just swap the turbine housing and it would bolt right on. I am not sure what the compressor wheel would be on that turbo, but it might be around a 57 trim.

i sent them an email, and they said the housing swap could be done with their housing and bring the AR to .63. other turbo vendor said a t3 housing would bolt but the impeller should be changed. as the compressor is a t4 it could be a nice setup.

Small T3 compressor. At the very best, it will make about as much power as a 14b, maybe a 16G if it's a 60 trim T3. Best choice is put it back on ebay.

I'd say it's a truck turbo also. The split turbine housing was used on Diesels to get the air velocity up. The A/R on the turbine is big and the small compressor cover won't support too much air. By the time you switched both covers and wheels, you'd have been better off picking up a good deal on a turbo the right size.
