Hey, I recentally installed my A/F ratio guage and when I turn the car on and drive all the bars stay lit, arent the bars suppose to move up and down between rich and lean? I hooked the wire to the oxygen sensor wire above the exhaust mani. the white wire, did I install the gauge wrong or what?

well first off set up your vehicle profile so we know what car you have and that will better allow us to come up with an accurate answer, also the type of A/F gauge would help, autometer, gloshift....etc...

anyways the sensor you connected it too....um? which one the rear lower, or the one in the downpipe??

on my 97 ESI.....I connected it to the one in the down pipe and had the same issue as you, the sensor should have 4 wires.....2 white, 1 black, and 1 gray....

the white wires are for the heating element thus this is why all your lights are lit, your getting a constant 12v to the gauge, these wires are there to heat the sensor to operating temp sooner for a more accurate reading to the ecu alot sooner than a sensor without built in heaters.

the wire you want to connect your gauge to is believe it or not the black wire..thats your signal wire.. (providing you have the 4 wire sensor)

again this is for a non turbo 2g.....you can check the bosch websight and or input the info we need and that will get you a better answer

that all depends on where he's tapping the wire to, i taped right into the sensor wire before any molexes... if you tap it into the cars harness then yes it would be a diffrent color entirely but not blue, in my situation...97 would be eather black with a white stripe for the front sensor....or white with a green stripe for the rear sensor....

Again this info is for a 97.....to better answer his question we need his cars info!!!!!
Untill then any info would be just that, info....it however would not fix his problem

my A/F gauge (glowshift) stays at lean, 4 red leds, sumtimes it might go into one yellow for optimal, but never stays there, but it might be becuz the cel code for the o2 sensor heater is bad, would that be the problem? and the weird thing is, when i use the brake, rear defroster, and A/C, the gauge reads higher, is it supposed to do that?

Sorry theres my vehicle info, i thought i had it on here.
[No need to apologize, and thank you :thumb: ]

Ah yes the glow shift gauges, I'm assuming you used there instructions to install? wrong...LOL they have you hook the signal wire up to the gray wire....thats the ground and the wrong wire entirely. Hook the signal wire off the gauge to the black wire of the sensor..I had the same problem, last time i follow directions... As for the use of AC, rear defogger, and brake...it should have no effect on the gauge, altho these gauges are not that accurate...unless you run wideband you will have no A/F gauge thats accurate. try moving the wire to the correct wire and this issue should correct itself, it sounds to me that its just doing that because of the power useage from these components

ok this makes things easier, according to the info i have found , you have the 4 wire sensor aswell, 2 white wires (heater), 1 gray wire (ground), and 1 black (signal).
this is the before catalyst sensor I'm talking about (before catalytic converter) you want your signal wire to the gauge to connect to the black wire of the sensor, or see what wire the black one connects to in the cars harness but i see it easier to just hook it directly to the sensor wire, this way your not cutting into the cars harness.
