a dumb question

what is w/ all the talk of a 6 bolt 5 bolt ect a little help on what these mean?
sorry im a little new to the dsm sight

I think you mean 6 bolt or 7 bolt. Basically they are different engine years. A 6 bolt was used up until 92.5 and the 7 bolt engine is in the later years

7-bolt is a better performer stock for stock..but for HP support and reliability the 6-bolts are better. 6-bolts have stronger rods and aren't as prone to crankwalk as the 2G 7-bolt motors are. 2G motors offer better compression though.

Jesus Christ. Did anyone even want to try and answer the man's question? 6 or 7 bolt refers to the number of bolts holding the flywheel to the crankshaft. It is common to refer to the different 4g63 variants by this number...as they've already said the 4g63's made before mid 92 have 6 bolts holding the flywheel on. Any 4g63 after that has 7 bolts.
