95 eclipse trouble

alright so heres the scoop ive been searchin this forum for like a week now but cant seem to find just ### im lookin for.....so i made my first dsm purchase about 3 months ago. it was runnin like a champ til 3 weeks ago i was on the highway coming home and it started making a real quiet ticking sound...i thought it was something with the drivers side wheel but no...i opened the hood and found that when i revved it just a bit it would tick RIGHT UNDER the valve cover where the 16 is....but only between like 1500-3000 rpm. then i drove it ### i was convinced it was lifter noise but wrong again! it got WAY worse now it does it all through the power band and is MUCH louder. when i changed the oil i found both gold n silver shavings (gold ones non ferrous). the head was f**kered all up...i found a steal on a rebuilt 1g head so i bought it hoping the noise was a bent valve maybe? wrong again got the head on there and everything back together n its still doing it.....however when i start it it seems like the starter is REALLY struggling to turn the flywheel on some cranks, others it cranks like normal...when it does start it wont idle it dies right after it starts, unless i give it some gas but once i let it go....dies....im sorry if this sh*ts been asked like a hundred times but i just have trouble believing its coming from the bottom end i swear the sound is under the valve cover idk ne advice greatly appreciated guys
