I've got a chance to pick up a 93 4g63 turbo motor with 5 speed for very cheap ($300!). The car was rear-end totaled but the motor is in great shape so I'm getting it at salvage value. It's the full long block with all of the accessories plus the tranny. I've got a 93 4g63 N/T with the auto tranny with less than 60K on it. I want to put the motor in my car and was just wondering how hard this is to do. I have access to a lift and engine hoist and stand and all the proper tools, and a guy that really knows what he's doing with motors. I've read the tech articles about doing this and about building the turbo kit, but since I have all the accessories do I really need to do all of that? Can I just unbolt everything and drop it in? Also, since I have the 5 speed and all the parts, should I just swap the tranny too? I have to buy this pretty soon if I'm gonna do it, so any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

I think since you got all the access to lifts and stuff like that and somebody that knows engines and what not, that you got a pretty good shot, but ive heard its a pain in the ass and is very time consuming with all the piping and wiring for all the turbo parts, but very sure its worth it, good luck with everything. you've already got everything you need.. the DONOR CAR!!

from here on out, it's simple simple simple. the hardest part is getting the wiring harness through the firewall in one piece! you will need to swap EVERYTHING!! ECU, Harness, IC, pipeing, motor/tranny etc... (don't forget the fuel pump)

i did mine last winter (on a '93 laser) and it turned out AWESOME!!! and my insurance is still cheap! what a deal

i say go for it, and don't listen to anyone who tells you it can't be done or even is a PITA! as long as you have your donor car, you're all set!

BTW, you don't need a lift or anything, and about 99% of the holes for mounting this new stuff is there already! have fun, and get going already!

good luck, keep us posted with your progress!
