90 throttle body

since i havent taken my throttle body out yet i was wondering what was so different that the fiav isnt able to be blocked off.

since it cant be blocked off can you delete the coolant lines with out messing up the idle

Yes by means of popping out the freeze plug located behind the FIAV and closing off the valve internally.

Without closing the valve you will have idle issues.

is there a wiki or a write up showing this procedure or is it just a remove the plug and close type deal or do you have to weld the valve closed or anything?

That thread wasn't specifically for a '90, but it's even easier on a '90 TB because there is no freeze plug to remove, just a circular cover with 3 screws securing it to the TB. From the bottom of the TB, remove the cover to expose the FIAV. Then using a pair of needle nose pliers, turn the FIAV in until it bottoms out. Reinstall the cover and you're done. Now you're free to block off the coolant lines as you please. It's a bit tricky, but it can be done without removing the TB from the engine.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. I forgot the 90 didn't have the plugs as I've only done 1 of them. But as Demon33 said, everything else is the same minus the plate.
