805 DSMs

i'm excited to go back to SLO for school, my buddy just opened a dsm shop in town.

I live in L.A. but my girl stays in Santa Maria. I am often down there, I drive a 99 Spyder GST.

I'd be down to roll, used to live all along the coast, Newbury Park to Santa Barbera. Anyone near Ventura know if Corrales is still around? Used to go there about fifteen years back, when they were off behind the oil pumps... shredded beef four-way is still the best damn burrito I've ever had.

Looking at Google says they're still around, and moved into town. Ventura seems pretty central to the 805, too.

Hey im new to the 805, im glad to see there are some other DSMs out here, i dont see many on the road.. Anyway for those of you guys that have been out here for a while, im in need of some advice/help. I recently took my car to a local mechanic shop in goleta to have my clutch petal fixed, to make a long story short he adjusted it too far out and it toasted my clutch, i need a new one, i dont want to have him do it, are there any good shops around here that you guys know of that know what they're doing? I live in Goleta, whats the closest/best shop around here, tia

Welcome. Although it is not close, Extreme Auto Works in San Luis Obispo has years of experience with DSMs. Ray the owner was the lead mechanic for DSS (Diamond Star Specialties..for you OG guys that remember them).

That would be awesome, but thats about 100 miles from me, normally i wouldn't care about a 100mile drive, but i need a new clutch so my car doesn't move, ill probably have to rent a trailor or something, Anything closer?

Man, sad to say but, SB is made for honduhs that want b16 swaps.. Take a look at Balistek
motorsports or something. They are a complete joke. Honestly speaking, there is not anything for us Dsm'ers in Santa Barbara county. I grew up there and after I got out of the Marine Corps, I went back home and not a damn thing changed.

Now, I have seen a few subaru's and Evo's cruising around there but, alot of them are the rich stuck up types. If I were you, I would order what you need online and learn to do things yourself. Its too bad that no one is SB really knows anything about Dsm's there. I would either scout north or south if you really need a shop to do your work. But, don't get anything done in Santa Barbara county. Good luck man.
