It's about that time again, folks. NWDSM does its annual Hood River Run (HRR) before the start of the racing season each year, and this year it's coming on April 30th.
You are invited to come to the HRR if you drive one of the following:
- any DSM (T/E/L/GVR4)
- any Evo
- any other turbo car (usually these special guests are packing some serious power!)
A little primer for those of you who may not be familiar with the group - NWDSM (www.nwdsm.com - website never updated) is a fairly old group (800+ registered members) that's been around since the mid 90s and is based around a mailing list on Yahoo Groups. They're a bunch of experienced and helpful DSM lovers, and are fun people as long as you stick to the rules. If you come on their mailing list or attend their events and show a blatant disregard for the leaders and rules, some of them can get rather nasty.
Their car drives usually go at a reasonably fast speed, though reckless driving (people sticking out sunroofs and windows to take pictures, driving on the shoulder, weaving through traffic and otherwise acting like a ricer) is frowned upon. We normally drive with a lot of radios and (usually) do a good job of sticking together, even with a couple dozen cars in the group.
This is a chance to see some of the fastest DSMs in the northwest, and there are usually some non-DSM turbo cars with some serious firepower. Last year there was a Z32 with a turbo V8 swap that was rumored to be packing 1000whp, and a Civic with a 4G63 swap that was amazingly fast.
Even with all the hot machinery, don't worry about getting left out if you don't want to do triple digits on public roads. The leaders always do a good job of keeping things organized and out of trouble, and if some people feel a little frisky and take off ahead, the rest of the group catches up at the next checkpoint.

Here are the meeting points and times from last year, subject to change:
North of Seattle: Meet at Bahama Breeze (Old Southcenter Mall
Theater) before 6:00AM with or without me. You should leave there no
later than 6:10AM to be able to make it to the next meeting point.
Tacoma/Puyallup area: Meet at the I-5/512 McDs around 6:45AM. You
can fuel up the car at the Chevron and fuel up yourself at the same
time. We will be leaving there promptly at 7:00AM.
Olympia area and farther south: You can either wait for us on a
freeway on-ramp, or you can meet us at Napavine. That's normally a
good place to stop and re-fuel for everyone. That will be a VERY
short stop.
