Calgary,
Can anyone tell me why I am only running 6 psi after $3000 work to my car? I took the car (92 TSi) in for a timing belt change which turned into a lot more. What they did was changed the timing belt, bs belt, water pump, pretty much everything in the front case, then I had 6 bent valves and a warped exhaust manifold. Sent the head and the exh mani to the machine shop, planed the manifold. Put everything back together. Car runs mint now, used to miss at idle. Only problem is, I'm only running 6psi. Isn't that pretty low? I also have 3" downpipe/exhaust, k&n, aftermarket boost gauge. Can anyone offer any advice on where to go from here? Thanks in advance.

1. Remove your intake pipe and check the turbo for shaftplay and make sure that it spins freely.

2. Check for exhaust leaks before the O2 housing.

3. Make sure the actuator arm is connected and that the wastegate flapper is closed completely.

4. Perform a boost leak test.

5. perform a compression test.

6. Do you have a mbc or just the factory bcs? If mbc, what type and how is it hooked up.

Post back results so we can go further.

I found the prob oldman! I had a vac line that was never hooked up to my BOV since i bought the car. Now I'm pulling 10psi. Daaamn! What a difference! Prob sound ### blabbin bout 10psi, but I never pulled it since i owned the car (3 yrs). Thanks again for all your help all the time oldman!

Apparently my post was invisible. ;) Glad you found the problem though. If you are only seeing 10psi, you are still leaking a couple pounds. Stock is 11 or 14 or something. Don't recall but a search would reveal the answer I'm sure. It's been awhile since I've been sans boost controller. :D

HAHA...no weith, your post was not invisible bro. Thanks for your help too man, seriously don't know where I'd be without all you guys. Damn, you still think I'm leakin a bit huh? This feels damn good to me now, but hell, if I can get a few more pounds yet, I'd be goin nuts here! I do know my intercooler has NEVER been cleaned. When I took the stock IC pipes of the BOV, they had a bit of oil inside them. I really gotta clean that thing. Now all I have to do is cut this air can, and maybe a MAF mod if I can find that info again. Thanks again everyone! My car has never felt this good! I love dsmtuners.com!

I agree with weith1111 that you have leaks, especially if you have never done a leak test before. I got $5 on boost leak. :D
