Whats up everybody,
I came by a good deal! A mechanic i know has a 6 Bolt stashed in the back of the shop from a 91 dsm fwd AUTO tranny. The customer spun a bearing and was too lazy to fix it anymore. The head is still good and the turbo also.
I know the auto 1g cars came with 13g turbos and smaller lift on their cams.
My questions:
1. The ports on the head, are they the same as M/T 6 bolt heads ?
2. Do the cams really have smaller lift ?
3.Is it true that 93 and 94 heads have better coolant passages.
4.Any other differences you guys know?

The crank probably needs to be turned by now, i dont care because i want a 2.3 stroker and will swap in the 4g64 crank anyways.

Is the block still good you guys think ?

one more question: I have a cherry 2.0 NON- Turbo head from a 94 , are the ports the same as the turbo 1g heads, and the cams ?

im getting it for practically nothing , what do you all think ?

Its a bunch of questions, please help Thanks guys !!!:thumb:

1.) The ports are the same.
2.) Yes, the Automatic cams have less lift.
3.) I don't know wabout the coolant passages, but 92 was the last year for 6-bolts.
4.) Smaller cams, exhaust manifold, turbo, and injectors is about it.

If you want to make sure the engine is within specs and usuable take it to a machine shop. 2.0L FWD head is the same as the turbo head but with the automatic cams.

Thanks for the reply man,
I forgot about the smaller manifold and 390 cc injectors, but who cares all that gets replaced with bigger stuff anyways.
Im glad the ports are the same, but im trying to see if i should use the 94 head instead, since mitsu still used the big port 1g heads even after they switched to 7 bolt short blocks after mid 92.
This 94 head is clean with a good surface on it, the cams are small and it seems the cams in it are like the auto turbo 1g cams.

I dont think you can see that small of a difference in cam sizes, can you? I mean, they are very minute differences in the lift, duration, etc.. So small I couldnt tell the difference in size from a turbo exhaust cam and an NA one... the lift was something like .004 off or something
