Ok - finally got the 6bolt in the car, car started up, no problem. Power steering was leaking, and as many of you may know, I'm training 3 times a day to get ready for my professional career in Germany, so right now, time spent on the car is time wasted.

Since I got it started, and running, with just a few problems (some oil leaks, light coolant leaks, power steering leaking, and some vac lines disconnected) I decided to get it sent to the shop to get the dumb stuff cleaned up, so I could focus on bigger things (as if there are any in this world)

Low and behold, my 2g has me by the balls AGAIN. Shop calls, says they got everything done, but the car is leaking REDICULOUS oil, like a huge puddle which is basically all 4 - 4.5 quarts on startup.

He says it's leaking from the pan - no problem. Leaking from oil drain - no problem. But then he tells me there's oil all over the timing belt, and he doesn't know where that's coming from. He also tells me there's oil coming out the back of the head, which im like wtf. This savvy individual then goes to tell me he thinks it's best to take the motor BACK OUT to find it, and reseal it. Dude is nuts. He's crazy

So at this point, I'm wondering, what do you all suggest me to check first? I have yet to see it, so I'm going over there this week but I am NOT taking this motor back out. It took me 3.5 months to build, and when it's running, and my new setup is done, will be good for low 12's - high 11's.

Now I'm wondering - the balance shafts were deleted in this motor...what on that side could be leaking oil on the timing belt?

Any ideas on what to check, what to seal, and what to do are greatly appreciated, ### as close as I am to having this 6bolt done, I damn sure won't let an oil leak stop me. Thanks

there is a seal behind the oil pump sprocket the i have had leak pretty but but i would only leak if i drove the car like down the driveway but if it was just idling it would show any signs of leaking. you might start there this will involve takeing the timing belt off, but you really dont have another choice it looks like. also the valve cover gasket is very prone to leaking so that might be why he said its leaking from the back of the head.

good deal, oil pump sprocket is the first place i look. im sure it's just something dumb around where the oil pump is, and taking the timing belt off isnt bad, my buddy and i had the car timed SAVAGELY, especially after i bought a set of 3 vice grips :thumb:

once i get it running, I plan to get cams, so we'd have to retime the car anyway, and timing is no problem, as i said, once you get the tensioner setup good, with 2 people and a couple pairs of vice grips, you can get the notches lined up PERFECT

did you remove the balance shafts? if so did you put goo on the pulley bolt before you put it back in? if you didnt do this that would cause a major oil leak in the timing area.
