I'm looking at some 5Zigen FN01R 16" rims.
Why: Because they are SUPER light.

Now, are these prone to cracking or breaking at all? I want something super light and something that will last.

I have no experience with them, but they seem to be one of the favorites among autoXers and others tracking their car.

the 5Zigen FNO1R-C's are, in my opinion, THE BEST RIM. I had a set, sold em to a friend. I've seen a couple other people run them. These were 17x8's....but they weight closed to nothing

how do you plan on using these rims?

that's the question. are you going to be balls out every weekend on a road course pulling multiple G's on the track?

or do you plan on smashing into curbs in the neighborhood?

I had a set on one of my 240's and I would throw cheap tires on them, and go out and drift on them (dry pavement), for countless hours out in parking lots, and never had any problems.

i was going to get a set of these but i was so happy i didnt because i see them on so many cars, dsm, evos, even honduhs.

they will crack if you hit something LOL other wise they would be fine

I had these in bronze 17's. Love em to death until some poor guy with no life stole them. Very very light that I could hold it up with two fingers. Not so light when tires are mounted. I would say go for it... i don't think you'll regret!

Price and performance....good wheel. (not rim)

As someone else stated, these are pretty much the standard for people doing road racing or autoX. When I can afford them I'm going to buy a set.

I was stuck between a set of 5Zigen's or Enkei's this summer. The 5Zigen's are a very excellent wheel for the price. I would go for them. And they're just as strong as any quality wheel out there.

Definitely a good quality wheel. I had the same set of Pro Racer GN+ on my IS300 and my talon - I'd recommend them to anyone. Japanese forged wheel = better than most of the no-name chinese crap alot of people run.

They are casted wheels. Heavy cast wheel = Strong. Light cast wheel = brittle as gingerbread. Forged = Light and strong but a million dollars.

Are you going to be doing alot of racing where you hit the curbs? I went with them because of the lightness and they came in a wide size and offset I needed. I needed them for traction not for autocrossing or roadracing so they were perfect.

A wheel I got in the set of wheels had a bad bend in the lip, the evo guy that had them before me must have hit something going real fast. It didn't shatter the wheel it just bent the lip. I'll take a picture when I get home. Just saying the fn01rc can take some abuse and not shatter.

I ran them on my RX8 when I was tracking it. 17X10 all the way around on Nitto NT-01s:

Excellent wheel and very strong. Great price as well. I've had Volks, J-Lines, HRE, BBS, etc etc and even though these wheels cost less they were right up there in quality and turned heads like none other. Then again I was the first one running the limited Matte Redline/Timeattack wheels in that aggressive of a size/offset.

anyone know if Enkei racing RPF1 wheels are like? i was looking into 5zigen but these are cheaper and are lighter, 17*8 (15 lbs) and made in japan :) im in the middle of those and the 5Zigen 17*9~10

FN01RC's.........thanks to Cookmeup272.

They are 17x8, way lighter than my old 2g GST wheels. The rear wheels meet the quarter panel perfectly, and the front wheels barely push the tires past the fender. It looks perfect. I have 225/45's on there.

I still have a set. PM me if you'd like a price shipped to you. I loved my wheels. I only took them off because they wouldn't fit around my big brakes. The day I bolted them on I remember thinking how much faster the car drove. Figure I lost probably 5 lbs a wheel over stock. Held up great!

Good wheel for the money but still a conventional cast wheel so you get conventional cast strength. I road-raced and auto-x on them for more than six years and never had an issue, but I always watched where I drove on the street. The new version has the model number cast into the wheel to fight off the knock-off companies out there so make sure if you purchase a new set they have the FNO1R-C cast into the wheel/spoke.
Do these wheels compare to the Enkei RPF1 casting...no! The RPF1's are by far the best quality wheel for the price. They hold up as well as some entry level forged wheels at half the price. I would have bought a set instead of the FNO1R-C's but they weren't available in black back then only silver.
If I had to buy a wheel based on weight (over 1lb lighter than the FNO1R-C), strength, quality, and price today look no further than the RPF1. If price is the only criteria then buy the 5Zigens before you purchase wheels like Rota, etc.

Agreed. 5Zigen wheels are a thin, cheaper cast wheel. Light, but weaker than other better brand wheels. Enkei wheels are cast as well, but they are quite possibly the best cast wheels in the world. Enkei actually makes wheels for Advan and a few other Japanese wheel companies.

For the ultimate in strength and lightness, forged monoblock is the way to go. I've had Enkei, Advan, and 5Zigen wheels, and now I have Volk CE28's, I'll never buy anything else. Higher initial investment but worth it in the long run.

You guys need to read this!

I tried looking for it again when i had seen this post but I couldn't find it. I finally came across it again.
