so i was cleaning up my garage today and i found my old 5" auto meter tach and i was thinking of a good place to mount it but was kinda clueless on it, so i thought i'd get some ruff ideas from others. it came with the car when i bought it and was mounted in the upper left part of the dash and i took it out b/c it was hitting the windshield. any pics from others or opinions are greatly appreciated. thanks its on 1Ga

yeah, don't put a 5" tach in your car.... there is no point for a tach that big unless your drag racing and your going fast enough where all you can look at is that, and its still blurry

but if you absolutly have to, put it somewhere that isn't viewable to the entire world.

Well obviously put it in direct line of sight. It's silly when people put them in their car and put them off to the side, requiring them to glance at it, and essentially defeating its entire purpose. I would say near the gauge cluster would be a good choice.

yea LOL it's funny you say that b/c the guy i bought it from put it in the top left corner of the gauge cluster cover. so basicly straight up from the fog, dimmer, pop up swtiches. it was kinda hidden but only from the side when you walk up to it from the front it was like seeing an XXXXL front mount on a XXXS front bumper so basicly a "sore thumb" ha but i was just curious cause i got it free and thought about putting it back on, and it's a nice one really clean and i also got a free blue light for it to so it looks really good its just too tight of space to stick that big a** thing in there cleanly. well thanks for you input on this any others would be great too

another note from the statement above when it was mounted in the place from when i bought it, it really looked nice and was in very clear sight mostly the prob was clearence. it would tap the windsheild from time to time and also it just looked plain big LOL but if i put it back in thats ###### where i'll put it, i just thought maybe someone thought of a better spot

i mounted mine above my stereo stuff under my rear view miror i think it looks nice but can be a bad blind spot sometimes

What's wrong with stock? IMO a 5" tach is gaudy and ugly. Im not tryin to hate on your idea im just wondering why you think you need it/ want it?

cause its free why not use it LOL and i also know that some like some hate i'm in the middle cause i like it pretty much just because i got it with the car, i would never buy one ive had a few cars to mod tune w.e. you wanna call it and never bought one, but now that i have one free i just wanna put it to use.

Sell it and put the money towards something that will actually help the car.

i've decided to sell it to some kid with a civic like my old one so he's also buying all my other stuff as well like a carbon fiber hood strut ties, guage pod, gauges, front lip,jdm swithces ,for only like 250 to 300 bucks my lose but i no longer own a civic nor desire one and now i'm stuck with all this stuff. so if any one else on here know any one that wants to buy as well i'll sell it to them too if this kid punks out the hood was 800 alone!!

i put mine on the part of the dash where it slopes down towards the passenger. right side of the center console. that way i can still see it and its not in my line of sight so i dont miss a low sign or hit anything. works good there.

Try mounting it on the bottom of the trash can unless you really like people pointing and laughing at you and your car.
