Edmonton,
Tall deck 4G64's come stock in 2G eclipse spyders so I know they'll fit in 2G cars, but Will a 4G64 block bolt into a 1G car? If not, will I need to buy some sort of drop motor mounts to clear the hood?

I'm sure this has been covered in the past, but I've spent the past 20 minutes searching and havn't found a real clear answer, and it's getting pretty aggrivating.

You've never heard of someone doing a 1g to 2g motor swap? Think it out.

 4G64 has a taller deck height than the 4G63. The 4G64 fits under a 2G hood, but I do not know if the taller deck will fit under a 1G hood without issue.

He is doing a 2G to a 1G swap. If I were you I would look for the G4CS block and use that. I found a complete running sonata for $500 in Edmonton, just look in the bargain finder or call some wreckers. Also have you heard of nacdsm?

Still no one has answered his question. I am interested to know too.

itll fit, there are a few members here runnign 64 blocks with 1g heads. its a hybrid alternative to the 2.3L stroker and it has better rod angles.

the deck is taller by a few millimeters. i cant remember the exact amount.

No-it should fit.Might rub a touch on the fire blanket under the hood but nothing more.

The 64 block is 6 mil taller than the 63.

it has better rod angles

Only if you go with the longer rod option.

There should be a sticky how and why-where and what on the 64.Whos up to it?

id be game, there are a few different block coeds for em i knwo that, i couldnt remember the deck height so i coulda used it then.

i need to find a used head gasket from a 1ga 4g63 motor to see abotu a few things. cant tell though, its a secret
