ok, right now i have turbo-back 2.5 in exhaust straight piping(no muffler/resonators) and it isnt all that loud. I'm about to upgrade turbos and found a shop that is going to to my full 3in piping for a very good price, but i kind of like not having any resonators or mufflers like i do now. Will 3in be too loud to stand/attract way too much attention from cops over my 2.5 inch?

It's going to be very very loud, especially if you have a larger than stock downpipe. I have 3" turboback with a magnaflow muffler and I get pulled over monthly for my exhaust being too loud.

i'm running a downpipe with no cat or muffler full 3" turbo back setup and it is obnoxiously loud.i didn't have the money for a muffler when i got the exhaust done so i just went ahead with it and don't regret it at all :p

haven't had trouble yet (from cops) and i've had it this way for about 3 weeks.

How? OMG I mean, seriously, how can you stand open exhaust that long? OMG I cant stand my exhaust for long with open exhaust :barf: Even with my 4g37 i'd get harassed by the Po-lease MAN about my exhaust. A 3" without a muffler will wake the neighborhood. :nono: I dont know how stock cam idle sounds, but hks 272 exhaust is pretty gross on open exhaust.

hmm I threw on my megan DP on last week just cuz I was tired of waiting for my catback and It isnt that loud, maybe because all the rednecks around here with glasspacks overpower the streets with extremely loud "smacking" The cops leave me alone because they don't think the sound came from me they think it came from the truck that drove past me on muddin tires :sneaky:

Ok, i forgot one thing. I'm going to leave on a high-flowcat and just swap it out with my test pipe when i hit the track. How much of a sound difference will this make having the cat on there?

Also, if this is still going to be loud enough make half the neighborhood crap themselves, what muffler would y'all recommend that still retains that deep, throaty sound.

I'd go with a Thermal R&D axle back. It sounds fairly mild until you stomp on it. FYI, I also run full 3" piping and have a hogged out cat, but it doesn't really make noise until I whack on it.

Hope that helps,

Andy

dude yo ulive in florida would it even realy matter.. just do it like the srt's exhaust....

did live in florida. I just havent changed it yet, but i'm back in dallas right now.

I have run open 02 housing for about a month now. I dont beleive its that loud. But I do think that the cops think that it is someone else and not me because when I pass they dont even look at me anymore and before with my 3-inch they used to look directly at me. Dunno, strange....
