A little over a month ago I called Chad at 3D Motorsports in Council Bluffs and started discussing the details of doing some work on my 97 GST. A local shops mechanic crank walked the 7 bolt motor and left me needing A) a bottom end rebuild. or B) a new engine. After speaking with Chad he lead me in the direction of a built 6 bolt motor that only had 4,000 miles on it. After about a week of discussing the details of the engine with the owner I purchased it and brought my car to Council Bluffs to have a 6 bolt swap performed by Chad and his techs. As well as doing the 6 bolt swap, Chad did a slew of other tasks including installing some Megan Racing Street coil overs, a whole new Fuel Lab fuel system including a Walbro 255 fuel pump and PTE 680cc injectors. Along the way a major leak was discovered in my steering rack, so we got that taken care of with a new one from RedHead steering gears.
I have to say, I normally do ALL of my work on all of my vehicles, but with the combination of work and school, I just don't have the time right now to do much of anything. So I was very pleased to have someone like Chad close by to do the work for me. My car drives like a completely different animal than it was before, and aside from some tuning issues that I completely expected to tune out myself, my car runs like new. It sits 1.5" lower and rides quite well there so long as the huge potholes in the Nebraska roads dont find their way into my path.
Here's some pics of the journey along the way, courtesy of Chad.

They seem like some great people. Car looks really good man, glad you are able to enjoy it now. :)

Yeah, Chad has always been very friendly and helpful. He takes a real-world approach to modifying these cars that some people don't. He isn't a fan of just throwing on the most expensive crap and hoping it works. Rather, he offers practical, real world advice and parts that really make a difference, regardless of cost.

That's what most people want. You know what shop I notice has more street-able builds rather than just maxing it out type stuff like AMS perhaps. STM, they seems to be more of the real world type. They got a whole bunch of stock motor cars running good with real world setups. That's what I personally look for rather than making 1000whp. LOL.

Yea, Chad was great about everything. Not to mention all the crap I went through about a couple of the parts we needed to keep the project rolling. A few of them did not come in during the time they should have and even at one point the car sat on his lift with no tranny in it for several days because I was waiting on a flywheel that took forever to get there.
His service prices are very reasonable, I doubt I could have found another shop to do everything he did for the same price, not to mention a specialized shop such as his where they know their way around a DSM.
My engine is a street engine, thats all I want and thats exactly what I got. I bought it used with about 4k on it. It wasn't fast enough for the previous owner and he decided to get rid of it. He ran about 400hp on the chassis dyno with it and that was plenty for me. I'm confident that I have a good engine and its reliable because it received service from the best.

Chad and his crew do top notch work. He is the best mechanic I've ever dealt with. :hellyeah:

I just dropped my car of yesterday. Hopefully my car doesn't give him too many problems.

The best shop I have ever taken my cars.

I think I saw your car when I went to Chads a month ago but nice DSM :thumb:

Haha! I have terrible luck! Chad is a very good dude and knows his stuff. My head and exhaust is finally coming in this week. I was suppose to get it today. Just checked FedEx and the company that shipped it. Sent it to the wrong address. I called them to update my address but they shipped it to my old one. I have the worst luck ever!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to get them to hold it somewhere for me so I can go and get it.
