2gb Front End Conversion.

hi i was just wondering what you need to replace to do a front end conversion from a 96 to a 98 or 99 gst? is it just the bumper? or what else? also anyone know where i could find a front end?

Is the hood not different for the headlights being different?

nah bro the 95-99's all have the same hoods, the bumpers make up the difference, i have a 96, i had to buy a 95/96 front bumper since i hadnt got the 97-99 headlights, i believe they are not as tall but im not positive, ive never looked, but they told me if i had gotten a 97-99 front bumper id have to modify it, and i had hell finding some good 95.96 headlights also

the 97-99 headlights have adifferent curve at the bottom of them and are tinted a smokish color. not fully tinted though. there just different. the top of the headlights are the same hence the fact that you can retain your hood. also its not really a gst conversion. its really a 97-99 conversion. rs, gs, gst, gsx all have the same front bumpers. the rs and gs dont have the sidemount port and sometimes the foggies. hopefully that helps some more.

Nah all you need are headlights and a bumper. You wont even need to drill holes in the new bumper, they mount up to the same holes . The hoods are exactly the same. My 95 has a 97 Drift Front Bumper, 98 stock headlights, and a 97 Cf hood. Everything fits like a glove.

If you cant buy it all at one time make sure to get the headlights first. Althought you can put 97-99 headlights on a DSM that has a 95-96 front bumper. You CANNOT put 95-96 headlights on a car that has a 97-99 front bumper. Well you can but it will push the top of the bumper out. The lights on the 95-96 go more to the center of the car and are about 2 inches closer to one another.

I would like to chime in on this.. as i am having some bad luck with mine..
My car is a 1995 (1994 build date) so its old... your is a 96, not as old but still old..
BE PREPARED for broken nuts and bolts.. and rusted in ones..
I have broken like a million... another million are stuck in ther or broken and half of it stuck in there..

I had soo many problems I had to RIP my Talon bumper OFF the car.. (wel i didnt have to.. but it was faster and got all the aggression that i picked up in the 6 hours of trying to get the bumper off the car (rusted bolts)
and only 2 of the "bolt holes" were damaged in this process.. so its well worth it!

ALSO the foglights apparently DO use the stock brackets.. BUT I dont think they use they same holes for bolting it in.. because when I used thesame holes as the 95 fog lights and test fitted the bumper the foglights were Off by like 5 inches and were behind the bumper not seen. I woke up today and I trhik Ifound the right part to bolt the fog light.. one went in, the other is in the wrong spot still because....... I BROKE A RUSTY BOLT... so i need to figure out a way to get that out so I can move the foglight over a few inches and get my bumper on..

For now i am driving around bumperless.. and gettng some nasty looks.. And when parked I fear some one is not stealing my bulbs to spite me ...


Any ways good luck with your conversion, hopefully you do not run into the same problems I have.. I would not wish this on my worst enemy
