2g Maf question

I know that you can't hack the 2g maf or anything, but i got the cone filter adaptor and was wondering if i could cut this angled plastic piece. i don't really think that it would affect it, but i'm looking for a real answer. just look at the picture

Before I put my GM MAS on I Unscrewed it and it will come directly off. No need to cut it.

This is what I did and have been running it that way for like 1 1/2 years and no problems. good luck.
