Hey guy's I tried locating information for this topic but couldn't find much. My car has a burnt valve and I need a new head. It's a 95' Talon Tsi so the CAS is under the intake cam gear I believe. My question is this, could I fit any year 2g 7bolt or just 7bolt head on this car with no problem? Would my CAS be able to be fitted onto that head in the original spot or would I have to use that year and style CAS. Also is a 6bolt head an option or not? Thank you! :thumb:

i have a 95 tsi also and i was gonna put a 1g head on also but to tell you the truth i would just go with a 2g head enless you can weld theres a tut on how to do the swap just type in 1g head on 2g block on google

If you get the head that had the 1g CAS, then you'll need to use that head along with the wiring harness for it.

Ok thanks guys. Yeah I've heard also the 2g heads flow better? I'll try and find a 95 or 96 head then, but if I come across a 2gb head I would have to use that style cas, and also extend the wiring over to that side of the head? Or do they sell a wiring harness for it like you said? and lastly change my firing order?

To reuse your cas, a 95/96 head is needed

No it is not.

You can use any 95-99 Head, if you get a 97-99 head you just use the cam gear and sensor from your old head and bolt it to the new one and use the plug from your old one for the hole where the 97-99 one goes. This would be the easiest way, you wont have to mess with swapping plug wires, wiring harness, etc...

Why not just have a machine shop fix your old head?
You may end up with just as much money into another head than just fixing your own.

Crfidah the only welding you would have to do is if you want a 2ga cam sensor on a 1g head because there are no mounts for the 2ga sensor. Which for all that trouble it would be easier to go with the 1g cas instead.

Except for the fact that the 97-99 heads do no have the bolt holes behind the cam gear for his cas. It's been done by building up metal then taping, but it's much easier doing the ways I mentioned.

No, there is no place to bolt up your original 95-96 CAS on a 97-99 turbo head, but there is a place to bolt up the CAS for a 97-99 on all heads from 89-99. You can always install a 1g CAS into that new head of yours.

Ok Thanks for all the help! I'm either taking it to a machine shop or putting in a lower mileage engine I found thats out of a 2gb so I guess I'll find out for myself If it's possible to use my 95' cas.
