i have a 99 GSX, i'm planing to get a 20G turbo. right now i have s-afc for tuning and 720cc injectors, fmic, and etc. will the s-afc be able to tune and get the car running right until i get dsmlink? what do you guys suggest i should do/change, to my current setup? e.i. turbo, injectors. any help is greatly appreciated....

the biggest injectors a safc will compensate for is about 660. You could get away with the 720's, but you will be running very rich. I would hold off intalling the injectors until you can get dsmlink

The Safc will be no problem to you. It will make it much easier if you had a Wideband to tune with though. And of course, tuning will become so much easier with Dsmlink and a Wideband.

Tom04841, we idled 780's with a Safc and have had no problems out of it. But like you said, would be much smoother if you already had Dsmlink.

you idled 780, but what were your trims? You had to be running rich. The 780 flow about 70% more than stock...the safc 1 can only compensate +/-30% and the safc 2 can go +/- 50%. I have no doubt it will idle, but ou are going to be running crazy rich

Ah, wasnt paying attention. We didnt use a safc 1, it was an safc 2.

all depends on what your goals are. If you have the 720's keep them and if you have an eprom ecu get a custom chip to compensate for the until you get dsmlink. You will be able to idle the 720's, but you WILL be running rich. You will lose a little fuel economy, but your putting on a 20g......i don't think you really care...LOL

You should be fine, i was just trying to make an accurate statement, not what can be done.

running 720's with a afc2 here. i get 18* timing advance @ redline. tunning wasnt too hard but you be much better off with a dsmlink setup. im in the process of getting dsmlink, but you will still make a heafty amount of power just tuning with the safc alone. Get dsmlink and a wideband. youll love your car after its fully tuned.
